Chapter 29 - Bandit-like System

While she had no strong knowledge of how to grow crops, Yao Zhi had spiritual spring water. So, after she buried the seeds in the soil, she mixed the river water from her system's farmland with a drop of spiritual spring water.

Afterward, she used a wooden ladle to water the crops carefully. When she was done, the sun had risen, and the villagers came out of their houses one after another.

Not long after, she went to the backyard to cook breakfast, Wang Wuniang and Wang Shen walked out of their house, carrying a wooden bucket. They had to go to their field and water their crops every day.

As they walked past Yao Zhi's house, Wang Shen noticed the plowed soil and muttered, "Eh? Did Yao girl plan to plant vegetables?"

Hearing her mother-in-law's words, Wang Wuniang stretched her neck and saw the moist soil. She let out a snort and said, "Who knows what she is thinking? Planting vegetables in this kind of weather, it would be a miracle if those seeds could germinate."

Wang Shen frowned at her daughter-in-law's sour words. She glared at her and said, "Wuniang, your husband is a Squad Leader now. You should watch your words and behavior, don't bring trouble to him."

Although she was unhappy about being scolded by her mother-in-law, Wang Wuniang didn't dare to go against her openly and lowered her head. "Mother, I was wrong."

Wang Shen shook her head when she heard her tone. She watched her grow up; as her paternal aunt, how could she not know what Wang Wuniang was thinking?

While the villagers were discussing Yao Zhi's strange behaviors, she was currently scrolling through the system shop. She was craving noodles, but making noodles from scratch was bothersome. So, she planned to buy a manual pasta maker.

After she browsed for a while, she finally decided on buying a twelve-in-one manual pasta maker. Not only could it be used to make pasta, it could also be used to make several types of noodles. The pasta maker cost her two thousand points.

As soon as she pressed the buy button, a box appeared inside her shop's warehouse. Taking out the pasta maker, Yao Zhi read the manuals for a moment before she stored them back into the shop warehouse.

Since it was a manual tool, she had to knead the dough and roll it first. Using a wooden basin, she started kneading the dough with great vigor. Thankfully, the kitchen had a rolling pin, so she didn't have to buy one from the system shop.

While waiting for the dough to rise, she started the fire and boiled a pot of water for drinking. Feeling bored, she opened the system's farmland and noticed that the seeds she planted two days ago had already sprouted.

Thinking that she had to harvest the crops personally, Yao Zhi wondered if it was possible to have an automatic harvest function. The moment this thought flashed in her mind, she heard the familiar notification sound.

Ding!

"Three hundred thousand points are needed to activate the farmland's automatic management feature. Do you want to activate the feature?"

When Yao Zhi heard the notification, she was so angry that she felt like beating someone. "It's so expensive! I would rather do it manually," she grumbled unhappily.

She thought that she would be able to refuse the activation. But when she saw the choices, she went silent. Both buttons were "YES," and there was no way for her to refuse to pay.

Perhaps it took her too long; the system suddenly made the decision for her. With another notification sound, Yao Zhi watched her points get deducted by half.

"System, are you a bandit?" she asked in disbelief.

As if noticing her dissatisfaction, she heard another notification.

"Automatic management feature has been activated. The crops' maturity time has been halved. Crops planted on the farmland will be ready for harvest every five days. The host can manually arrange the farmland through the farmland's setting panels."

Hearing this, Yao Zhi's bad mood lessened by half instantly. If she could harvest the crops once every five days, it was actually fine to pay three hundred thousand points.

She quickly opened the setting panels and planted four plots of black soil with rice. One plot of land was equal to one acre of high-quality, fertile land. With the boost of river water, one acre of land could produce ten thousand kilograms of rice.

In the five plots, she planted ten types of vegetables: tomatoes, cucumber, eggplant, cabbage, spinach, potato, carrot, green beans, white radish, and pak choy.

Each plot could yield sixty-eight thousand kilograms of vegetables. As she divided one plot for two types of vegetables, every five days, she was able to harvest thirty-four thousand kilograms of vegetables for each type.

As for the crops she planted before, they were stored in the farmland warehouse. Those crops had sprouted and could be transplanted. So, she planned to use the backyard to grow these vegetables later.

When she was done, the dough was ready. She kneaded it for a while, then flattened it with a rolling pin before using the manual pasta maker to turn the dough into noodles. She made two kilograms of noodles, took out a handful, and stored the rest in the system shop warehouse.

Fortunately, everything stored in the system storage and warehouse would stay in the same condition as when it was stored. So, she would not have to worry about her supplies being spoiled.

After the water boiled, she scooped it into a drinking water jar, leaving only a little inside to boil her noodles.

Since she was too lazy to make the soup, she bought a pack of hot and sour soup base from the system shop. One pack of the soup base could be used to make five bowls of noodles, and it cost her two points.

She poured one-fifth of the soup base into a bowl and stored the rest in the shop's warehouse. When the noodles were ready, she poured them into the bowl and added some hot water. Then, she fried an egg and added it on top of the noodles.

Taking a deep breath, she smiled and said, "This soup base is really fragrant!"
