Chapter 18 - Naruto’s Experiment! The Birth of Chakra Threads!

The next day, early morning. The Hidden Leaf Village basked under the gentle warmth of sunlight. The air was fresh, birds were chirping, and the world seemed peaceful—but beneath that calm, Naruto's mind was already racing.

He had spent half the night evading Root surveillance, and the rest thinking about how to counter it. Root's spies were trained to operate in absolute silence. They left no footprints, no chakra trails. Even the ANBU would struggle to track them.

But Naruto wasn't the ANBU. He was something else.

He wanted to create his own way of sensing and controlling his surroundings—something beyond ordinary chakra sensing. A technique that would make it impossible for anyone to sneak up on him ever again.

After finishing breakfast, Naruto slung his small pack over his shoulder and headed out toward Training Ground No. 66 again. This forest had become his personal laboratory. No one came here during the day, and the natural energy flowing through the trees made it perfect for training.

He stood in the center of the clearing, closed his eyes, and thought. I can already control chakra perfectly through my body, he reasoned. But what if I could extend it outside—like invisible threads… something that connects and responds to touch, like a spider's web? The more he imagined it, the clearer the image became.

He raised his right hand slowly, concentrating chakra at his fingertips. A faint blue glow shimmered in the air. Then, very gently, he tried to stretch it outward.

At first, nothing happened. The chakra dispersed like mist, impossible to maintain form. He frowned slightly. It's too unstable. I need structure—something to anchor it.

He closed his eyes again, visualizing the chakra not as energy, but as threads—fine strands weaving together, connecting him to the world around him. Slowly, he extended his hand again—this time with intention.

The air trembled faintly. And then—

Shhhk! A thin line of shimmering light extended from his fingertip, stretching several meters forward before fading from sight.

Naruto's eyes lit up. "It worked…! "

He could feel it—the connection between his chakra and the tip of the thread. It was like holding a silk string tied to the world itself.

He experimented further. Each time he released chakra, the threads became finer, stronger, and longer. Soon, he could extend them up to ten meters.

They were nearly invisible under sunlight, but when he focused his chakra, they shimmered faintly with a blue glow.

Then, the familiar system voice rang softly in his mind: "You are experimenting with chakra projection! " "You have comprehended Intermediate Chakra Threads! "

Intermediate Chakra Threads: You can project chakra into fine, tangible strands. These threads can connect, sense, and manipulate objects within a limited range. Further mastery will allow offensive and sealing applications.

Naruto's grin widened. "Now we're getting somewhere. "

He immediately began to test the sensory capability. He formed a dozen threads from his fingertips, spreading them out like invisible roots around him.

The moment a leaf drifted through one—he felt it. A soft, delicate vibration ran up his arm, like plucking a stringed instrument.

He laughed quietly. "So that's how spiders feel their prey…"

He flicked his wrist, and the threads snapped toward the leaf. With a precise tug, he lifted it gently into the air—without touching it at all. It floated before him, dangling obediently like it was on an invisible puppet string.

Another chime sounded in his mind. "You have mastered Advanced Chakra Threads! " "You can now manipulate, detect, and attack within a twenty-meter radius. " "Efficiency increased by 400%. "

Naruto's eyes gleamed with satisfaction. He could now feel everything within the range of his web—the shape of trees, the flutter of birds, even the faint breath of wind.

If anyone stepped into this zone, he would know instantly. "Let's call it… the Spider Field, " he murmured. He grinned. "With this, sneaking up on me will be impossible. "

He continued practicing until noon, learning to control multiple threads at once—binding, pulling, cutting, lifting. By the end, he could manipulate over thirty strands simultaneously, each one responding to his will with perfect precision.

To an outside observer, it looked as though invisible hands were moving the world itself. Leaves swirled around him like dancers, sticks floated, stones balanced in the air. It was a surreal sight—a six-year-old child surrounded by a web of chakra, his expression calm and focused like a god at play.

High above, hidden among the trees, one of Danzo's Root operatives, Shade, was watching through his mask. His breathing hitched. "What… is that…? "

He had seen many jutsu before, but nothing like this. No seals, no visible energy flares—just silent, terrifying control.

He tried to focus his chakra to see more clearly—and in that instant, Naruto turned his head and looked directly at him.

Shade froze. Their eyes met. Naruto smiled faintly.

And then—snap! A single chakra thread shot upward, moving faster than the blink of an eye.

Shade leapt backward, but the thread grazed his mask, leaving a fine, smoking cut across the surface. He barely managed to retreat into the shadows. Cold sweat trickled down his neck.

Back in the clearing, Naruto lowered his hand slowly. The threads dissolved into the air.

He smirked. "Looks like Root's getting jumpy. " He glanced toward the treetops. "Tell Danzo that his puppets need better training. "

With that, he turned and walked away, his steps light, his chakra fading once more into perfect silence.

Later that night, in the darkness beneath the village, Shade knelt before Danzo, trembling slightly.

"Report, " Danzo said.

Shade hesitated. "…He sensed me, Lord Danzo. From at least twenty meters away. And he attacked without forming seals. I barely escaped. "

Danzo's one visible eye narrowed dangerously. "He attacked you? "

"No, " Shade said quickly. "He only… warned me. "

Danzo fell silent. Then, in a low, gravelly tone, he muttered: "So… he's aware of us. Completely. "

He gripped his cane tightly. "This boy… is not normal. "

His voice hardened into a growl. "If Hiruzen won't restrain him… then I will. "

Meanwhile, back at his apartment, Naruto sat by the window, the moonlight spilling across his desk. He flexed his fingers, watching faint blue threads shimmer between them.

"This is only the beginning, " he whispered. "Next… I'll weave something even stronger. "

He looked toward the Hokage Tower in the distance, his gaze calm, almost amused. "You can hide your schemes, old men… but I can already feel every move you make. "

And in that moment, a new power quietly took root in the heart of Konoha—a silent web of chakra, woven by a boy the world had cast aside.
