Chapter 5 - Chapter 5 : The Sukuna Finger Incident

Today was the day.

Kael could feel it in the air—thick, humming, alive with cursed energy that crawled beneath his skin like static.

Something was about to begin.

He stood at the edge of a deserted alley, city lights flickering weakly behind him.

The metallic taste of blood lingered on his tongue.

Munch. Munch. Munch.

Before him, the dissolving remains of a curse twisted into ash.

Kael wiped his mouth with the back of his hand, breathing out a slow, heavy sigh.

Even though he knew he was human—

some habits were hard to kill.

There was a strange satisfaction in devouring curses.

It wasn't hunger. It was instinct.

The part of him that wasn't entirely human still craved that taste—power, malice, sin.

Every bite whispered something ancient into his bones, as if the remnants of the curse tried to claw their way back through him.

"Another one down," he muttered, cracking his neck.

The city was quiet.

Too quiet.

His phone buzzed.

A message from Megumi Fushiguro.

Got assigned to track a high-grade cursed object. Gojo-sensei's orders. Could use backup.

Kael's expression darkened immediately.

High-grade cursed object?

He didn't need to guess.

There was only one object capable of twisting fate that hard.

The Finger of Ryomen Sukuna.

Kael stared at the message for a long moment, the faint hum of the city fading beneath the rush of blood in his ears.

He'd known this day would come—

but part of him had hoped it wouldn't come so soon.

Sukuna.

The King of Curses.

The beginning of the timeline he once watched unfold on a screen.

He clenched his jaw.

If Megumi was going to find the finger, then Yuji Itadori couldn't be far behind.

The plot was moving.

And Kael stood at the crossroads—

between the story he remembered and the unknown future he could rewrite.

After a long silence, he made his choice.

He would keep the plot intact.

Knowing the future was power.

And in a world where people died like ants—

even "main characters" weren't safe—

Kael knew that knowledge was the sharpest weapon of all.

He closed his eyes, recalling the faint fragments of memory from his old world.

When did I die?

The thought drifted like smoke.

Early 2025.

Right after finishing the final chapters of Jujutsu Kaisen.

He remembered it clearly—

the ending, the blood, the loss.

He knew how this world's story would end.

And that meant he knew how to survive it.

"Fine," he muttered to himself. "Let the story flow."

He sank into the couch, the faint hum of city lights glowing beyond the window.

For the first time in days, he let himself relax, planning to rest before whatever tomorrow would bring.

But before his eyelids could close—

[You have chosen to let the plot flow.]

[System Directive: Defend the Flow.]

[Warning: A distortion will attempt to alter the plotline.]

Kael sat upright instantly, eyes narrowing.

"What the hell is this supposed to mean?" he muttered.

A distortion?

Something—or someone—trying to change the story?

The air felt heavier again, the System's words echoing in his mind like a whisper in an empty room.

"This system…" he whispered. "Just what are you?"

There was no response.

Only the soft flicker of the city lights beyond the window.

He rubbed his temples and sighed. "Great. So it's not enough that I have to survive Gojo and Sukuna—now I've got timeline police to deal with."

Still, he knew what he had to do.

Megumi's message replayed in his mind.

A high-grade cursed object.

Sugisawa Third High.

If the story stayed on track, then the Sukuna Finger Incident would unfold tomorrow night.

Kael grabbed his jacket and stood, a faint smirk tugging at his lips.

"Alright then. Time to see destiny up close."

The night train rattled through Tokyo's outskirts, a dim reflection of Kael's face flickering against the window.

His crimson eyes gleamed faintly under the fluorescent lights.

After the system's warning, he hadn't hesitated—

he took the first train to Sendai.

He knew what was coming.

Tonight was the night.

The cursed object.

Sugisawa Third High.

Yuji Itadori's first step into the world of jujutsu.

But if a distortion truly existed…

then even one wrong detail could shatter the timeline.

He pressed his forehead to the cold glass, watching the blurred lights streak past.

Somewhere out there, the dominoes of destiny were beginning to fall—and he was now part of the cascade.

Kael arrived after dark.

The air was heavy—dense with cursed energy that made the skin prickle.

He remembered this scene.

The upperclassmen. The talisman. The finger of Sukuna.

This was when everything began.

He sprinted through the narrow streets, his body blurring through the wind.

Each step cracked the pavement beneath his shoes.

Then—

CRASH!

The sound of breaking glass echoed from the school ahead.

Kael's pulse spiked. That's it… Yuji's entry.

He leapt over the gate in a single bound, landing silently on the grass.

The reek of cursed miasma was everywhere—thick enough to taste, heavy enough to suffocate.

Inside the shattered corridor, he saw it—

Yuji Itadori and Megumi Fushiguro, surrounded by writhing curses.

But something was wrong.

Among the swarm stood a new presence—a humanoid figure with limbs too long, skin stretched thin over a spider-like frame.

Its eight eyes gleamed crimson.

And in one clawed hand—

—the Finger of Sukuna.

Kael's eyes widened. So that's the distortion.

The air vibrated as cursed energy erupted from his body, coiling like smoke around him. The creature turned, its mouth splitting open into a crooked grin.

[Cursed Technique: Bone Manipulation – Spear]

Bones erupted from Kael's forearm, twisting into a pale weapon of jagged ivory.

He took aim—

and threw.

SWOOSH!

The spear tore through the air, whistling like a blade through wind.

Three minor curses evaporated into mist before it impaled the spider curse's arm, severing the hand clean off.

The Sukuna Finger spun through the air, glowing faintly in the moonlight before hitting the floor with a metallic clink.

Yuji's head snapped toward the sound.

"What the hell—!?"

Megumi's eyes widened. "Kael-san!?"

Kael landed between them, his long coat fluttering as cursed energy rippled around him.

"I came to help," he said simply.

He didn't wait for a response—already sprinting toward the fallen finger.

He knew exactly what would happen if any curse got to it first.

"Stay down," Kael shouted, eyes locked on the object of chaos. "This isn't part of the story I want to rewrite!"

The spider-curse screeched, its severed limb regenerating in a whirl of blackened flesh.

It lunged, shattering tiles beneath its claws, but Kael was already moving—faster, sharper, his cursed energy flaring like a crimson storm.
