Chapter 7 - Chapter Six: '... Wait, What?'

'... This place again...'

Nox felt the same cold sensation as he floated in the water. All he could see was darkness as the cold from the water permeated his body. He just stared at the darkness when he heard Veil's voice. "'One did not get expect you to actually enter this place so soon.'". His voice sounded like an echo but Nox wasn't too bothered. His whole world view was now warped and he didn't even know if he could continue on normally. Then he thought of something.

'... Hold on, Veil!'. "'You don't need to call One's name so harshly. What is it?'". With a look full of apprehension, he asked, 'I'm still alive today. You said I won't make it to the morning so how am I still here?'. "'Well, if you must know, One had taken control for a bit and eaten.'".

Nox furrowed his eyebrows as he asked, 'What do you mean by "eaten"?'. Veil chuckled. "'One devoured the Ruach Ra'ah to restore the power that was used in sustaining and healing you.'". '... Wait, what?'. "'Exactly as you've heard One say it, One devoured the Ruach Ra'ah to restore the power your body has been using to sustain itself.''. If Nox could've retched, he would have. Veil's laughter rang out as Nox cursed.

'... How does that even work?!'. "'Hmm, since you're my Vessel, One shall tell you. Even as a fragment, the power One holds is still divine power, something mortals can never withstand. On top of that, the nature of One's divine power is chaotic. Whenever One's divine power comes in contact with a mortal, they either wither away or just die immediately. However, One formed a pact with you. It is through through this pact that you can wield One's power. However, you are not spared from the damage One's power can do. Each time you use One's power, you are slowly draining One's reserves and the power you have used corrodes your body over time. If One's reserves are empty, you have no more divine power to use, with no divine power, your body can't possibly withstand the destruction nature of One's power.'"

Nox's mouth twitched. 'So basically, you're saying there is a fixed amount of power I can use to stay alive. However, if that amount is exhausted and I don't eat those... **Things**, I will die.'. "'Oooh, how wonderful my Vessel is smart!'". Nox wanted to knock himself out but he couldn't. '... So you mean I have to eat those things for the rest of my life?'. At this point, Nox feared the answer though he knew it. "'Exactly!'". Nox wanted to knock himself out again but he couldn't do so. It took a while for Nox to come to terms with his predicament. After about ten minutes, Nox was still in shock. "'Don't worry, the one we ate can last you about a week. One recommends you eat after five days though.'". "... And if I don't?". Veil chuckled darkly but didn't respond and Nox got the answer. He would die for sure.

"'Do not panic, One has something that will help you. Even as a fragment, One is still powerful. One has two Authorities you can wield.'". Nox was puzzled. "Authorities?". "'Yes, an Authority is a part of a god's nature which manifests like a skill to be used. I, as a fragment, have two of ten Authorities; The first is called Baloev, which allows you to consume both physical and spiritual things and the second is called Tzel, which allows you to manipulate the shadows to your will...'". Nox was delightfully surprised. 'Hmm, maybe being your Vessel or whatever isn't so bad...'. "'... Do you really think so?'". Nox felt uneasy when he heard that. '... W-what do you mean?'. "'Hmm, it's just that as you use my power, you can not have a partner. If not, over time, my power will cause them to wither and die.'"

'... Wait, what?'
