Evelin's POV
"Evelin, you made it," Declan said, pushing himself up against his pillows. He appeared more exhausted than when I'd last encountered him at Elysia Group.
"Great-grandpa, how are you holding up?" I asked.
"Nothing new. That's what happens when age catches up with you," Declan responded, managing a weak smile. His attention shifted to Margot standing beside the bed. "Margot, could you step out? I need some time alone with Evelin."

Frustration sparked in Margot's eyes as she thought, 'I've devoted years standing by Great-grandpa's side, yet he always acts like Evelin means more to him. Is it simply because she's from Miller's line, with parents celebrated as heroes? This isn't right!'
Still, she had no choice but to paste on a fake smile, murmur her agreement, and exit Declan's bedroom at a measured pace.
The moment she stepped outside, servants' chatter reached her ears - Jimmy had arrived and waited in the parlor.
