Evelin's POV
"Why do you even do it if you know something is wrong?" I asked.
"What if I've done something wrong? Maybe... I didn't even realize it was wrong back then," Jimmy said awkwardly, his voice defensive. "Eve, I wasn't a good guy before I met you. I didn't care about anything, nor did I care about the lives and deaths of others. But..."
He stopped mid-sentence, then continued, "I'll be a good person from now on. So... Will you forgive me no matter what I did before?"
I studied Jimmy's face. Unease flickered across his features, along with nervousness and an anxious intensity I'd rarely witnessed.
It seemed like my answer held the weight of the world for him.
'Why does my forgiveness matter so much to him?' I wondered.
I chewed my lip for a moment before answering, "As long as you didn't betray our country, go against what's right, or do something truly unforgivable, then I'll forgive you even if you made mistakes."
