Before arriving, Grace had suspected Nash might have discovered something. But hearing those words out loud still sent ice through her veins.

"You've got evidence?" she asked, keeping her voice steady.

"Damn right I do," Nash shot back with a cocky grin. "I wouldn't be standing here otherwise. I tracked down the woman who watched over Mr. Ford that night. The same one Ms. Elysia asked to keep tabs on him after dragging him from the river."

Those words hit Grace like a punch. Denial was pointless now.

"After Evelin hauled Mr. Ford from the water, she had to bolt for some emergency. So she gave him first aid, called 911, then asked this bystander to watch him until help showed up," Nash laid out the facts.

He pressed on, "That woman remembers every damn detail. Never saw anyone so gutsy, jumping into those crazy currents to save a stranger. But what really burned into her memory was..."
