Evelin's POV
I hesitated, caught off guard by his offer. "I can manage on my own..."
"I know you can," Jimmy said, his voice soft but determined. "You're not someone who needs rescuing, and I respect that you prefer handling things yourself. But Eve, I want to take care of you. Just let me do this. Don't shut me out."
I saw a fleeting look in his eyes, and I couldn't help but wonder if a part of him wished I were more dependent on him. Would he want me to need him desperately? Would he prefer someone who couldn't imagine life without him? Would he finally have me exactly where he wanted me?
But Jimmy understood that if I were that fragile, I wouldn't be the same person—I wouldn't be the Eve who captured his heart.
After I slipped into my slippers and trailed him to the dining room, he gestured toward a chair. "Take a seat. I'll get breakfast ready."
"You made breakfast?" The surprise was clear in my voice.
