Jimmy's POV
The second Evelin stepped into view, my expression changed completely.
Did she catch what Allen just said? I wondered, panic rising in my chest. What's going through her head right now? Does she think I'm some kind of bastard?
I couldn't give a shit if the entire world branded me shameless, but the thought of seeing disappointment flash across Evelin's eyes? That scared the hell out of me.
Her face revealed absolutely nothing—a blank slate.
She moved closer, eyes fixed on Allen. "Mind letting go?" she asked quietly.
"You're the boss, Evelin!" Allen replied.
Without missing a beat, he released my collar.
"How's the firm doing lately?" Evelin inquired.
My body tensed. So she did hear everything we just discussed...
"All sorted out. Nothing major," Allen said with a casual shrug. "But some people love playing games. Just watch your back, alright?"
Evelin's lips curved into a faint smile as she shifted topics smoothly. "I'm giving this back to where it belongs."
