Chapter 34 - Chapter 34:

Captian leaned close to my ear and whispered softly, "There's water on my desk." I looked at the desk and indeed saw a glass of water still steaming. Did he want me to drink it? But hadn't he already drunk from that one? The more I thought about it, the more ambiguous it felt. I wet my lips and murmured with a flushed face, "Suddenly I don't feel thirsty anymore…" My voice was already soft, my body even softer, and the faint scent unique to me brushed past Captian's nose. His dark eyes burned intensely, like a predator quietly stalking its prey. Realizing the danger instantly, alarms rang loudly in my mind, and I quickly changed the subject: "President Anderson, you bought land? What kind of project do you want to build in the city center?"

I had noticed documents on his desk introducing a prime urban plot and a title transfer deed. Land in that area was extremely expensive, if someone had capital to build a project there, they would surely earn massive profits. Rumor said ninety percent of Alchimie City's assets were under Captian's name. Now with this piece of land added, he would practically dominate the city even more.

Captian didn't speak. He simply picked up the land deed on the desk and placed it into my hands. Holding the deed felt like holding hundreds of millions; my breath stalled. If I damaged or lost it, even selling me wouldn't cover the cost. "President Anderson, what are you doing?" I tried to push the deed back to him. But he didn't intend to take it. "It's yours now."

Hearing his cold voice, my eyes widened. "Mine?" He nodded casually, as though this wasn't worth his attention. "Yes. Yours." I frowned; it felt like a dream. A piece of land worth hundreds of millions just handed to me? Was something wrong with his brain? I didn't have capital to develop a project. If it stayed in my hands, that land would become nothing more than a rusting lump of potential… unless I auctioned it off just to get some spending money.

"President Anderson, do you really want to give it to me?" Anxiety prickled my chest. I couldn't shake the suspicion that this might be yet another trap of his. "This land will just be wasted in my hands. I don't have money to build anything." "Once gifted, it's yours to handle." His lips curved with an inscrutable glint in his eyes, something I couldn't decipher. I pressed my lips together and reluctantly accepted the deed. "Then… I'll take it for now. If President Anderson wants it back later, you can come find me anytime."

Captian didn't reply. He lowered his head and resumed reading his documents. Taking the chance, I climbed off his lap. "President Anderson, please continue working. I'll head back first." Captian lifted his gaze at me, his dark eyes bottomless like an abyss.

Clutching the deed tightly, I hurried out of the office as if running for my life. Seeing my flushed face, Ronan gave a shamelessly ambiguous grin. Their President must've "made a move" in the office, so wonderful, right? "Sister-in-law, heading back already?" His teasing tone made my scalp tingle. Ignoring him entirely, I walked straight into the elevator. Ronan snapped out of it a moment later and rushed after me.

As the elevator descended, Ronan glanced at the deed in my hand, the name across it making him look twice. "What are you looking at?" I shot him a wary glance. His delinquent attitude made him seem like the type to try something shady. "Sister-in-law, you misunderstand me," he said awkwardly. "I just thought the deed looked familiar. Mind if I see it?"

I exhaled slowly, feeling like I had unfairly judged him. But honestly, Captian was to blame, he kept touching and grabbing me whenever he pleased, turning me into a skittish little bird, nervous even at the slightest breeze. "Fine, take a look." I handed the deed to him. Holding that thing felt like holding a burning coal couldn't throw it, couldn't drop it, and keeping it felt dangerous.

Ronan unfolded the deed, eyes flashing sharply before he silently cursed. The land wasn't just any land, it was the very piece he had taken from the Robbery family a few days ago! He had thought Captian needed it for a major project. Who could've guessed he'd just casually give it to me? Even if it wasn't the priciest land, it was still worth over a hundred million. If the Robbery family found out, they'd cry blood. Ronan returned the deed in shock, President Anderson truly cared about this girl. Not only did he ignore her stabbing him, he even gave her land worth a hundred million. Anyone who heard would faint.

"Is something wrong with the deed?" I asked, noticing Ronan's strange reaction. Did he see a business opportunity there and want to take it back on Captian's behalf? Honestly, that wouldn't be bad. I wasn't fond of the deed anyway. If Ronan wanted to return it, I'd gladly comply.

"No, nothing's wrong. Everything's perfect. If Ninth Master gives it, how could it possibly be wrong?" Ronan laughed awkwardly as he respectfully returned the deed and urged me to keep it safe. This was a gift from President Anderson.

I frowned and reluctantly took it back. It seemed this deed would be stuck with me a long time. Returning to the villa, I placed it carefully in the bedside drawer. If anything worth hundreds of millions went wrong, there was no way I could repay it. After finishing everything, I sat dazed in the bedroom until midnight when a beam of light shone through the window, followed by the sound of a car horn. Captian had returned.

He rarely came back to the villa could be counted on one hand, yet today he did. Standing by the window, I frowned slightly, not wanting his return. Him returning meant I'd have to face him again, just like last night, just like at noon, and now tonight would be no different… I sighed heavily. I felt tired. Under the moonlight, I saw him wearing a black coat, the top two buttons of his shirt undone, revealing his collarbones. In the pale glow, his sculpted collarbones and fair skin were unbelievably beautiful.

I blinked, and the moment I realized it, he was already standing outside my window. His gaze was darker than the night sky itself. Seeing those eyes made my heart jolt violently. A second later, he withdrew his gaze and entered the villa. My heart pounded uncontrollably; after that eye contact, I couldn't sit still. Since he would probably come upstairs soon, I might as well go down to greet him first.

Thinking so, I slowly descended the stairs and immediately ran into Captian. I forced a sweet smile. "President Anderson!" My voice was honeyed, enough to melt anyone's heart.
