Chapter 38 - Chapter 38:

Liona and her father suddenly coming here now must have been because of the land issue, they were probably hoping to ask Captian for forgiveness. I shrugged lightly and stepped into the villa.

Inside, Mr. Robbery was on the floor, crying as he begged Captian to forgive them. And Liona… The moment I glanced at her, I almost went blind. She was actually trying to seduce Captian.

She was already quite pretty, but now she was deliberately wearing a charming smile, making herself look like some overly dramatic little temptress. Under tremendous pressure, she sat next to the sofa, her petite leg slightly lifted, constantly brushing her shoe against Captian's leather shoe.

Even though Captian didn't move an inch, Liona still refused to give up. Her eyelashes trembled, and she cast him a flirtatious look. "President Anderson… please forgive the Robbery family. As long as you spare us, I will belong to you…"

Captian's eyes turned deep and shadowy, filled with mockery. Liona shrank her neck in fear, yet for the so-called honor of the Robbery family, she had to throw away every last piece of dignity.

I stared at her, nearly popping my own eyeballs out. Didn't Liona have feelings for Halley? Why did she suddenly switch to seducing Captian? And her expressions and gestures were so exaggerated like a cheap courtesan in some low-budget TV drama. It was vulgar to the point of being painful to watch.

Ronan clearly hadn't expected to witness such a mature-content scene, and worst of all, I was standing right next to him. If I misunderstood President Anderson, what would they do?

"S-sister-in-law, please don't misunderstand President Anderson! His heart is only for you, he absolutely doesn't like that Liona girl!" Ronan felt obligated to explain. This was basically related to their President's purity, after all.

I curled my lips into a reluctant smile. I honestly didn't feel jealous my eyes were just hurting. My impression of Liona collapsed entirely.

Seeing my stiff expression, Ronan looked devastated. It's over. Sister-in-law must have misunderstood. My poor President Anderson…

"Miss Bailey, please don't misunderstand. She offered herself, President Anderson had nothing to do with it," nanny Alley rushed out of the kitchen. "President Anderson only cares about you."

My lips twitched. Why was everyone explaining like I was about to throw a tantrum? I really wasn't feeling anything!

A cold gaze suddenly landed on me. I snapped back and met Captian's eyes. They were shadowy and quiet, but the moment he saw me, a ripple of emotion flickered through them, like a stone tossed into still water.

"Come here," he said with a slight curl of his lips.

His voice made me tremble involuntarily. No matter what, I still feared him fear carved into my bones, impossible to erase in a short time. My fingers twitched, but my feet refused to move.

"Come here." His voice deepened the second time.

The entire living room turned icy. Mr. Robbery on the floor and Liona mid-seduction both turned to look at me. They wanted to see what kind of person could draw Captian's attention.

When they saw that it was a delicate-looking young girl, Mr. Robbery froze. He had never heard of President Anderson having a sister or girlfriend, this girl must be his mistress. So young, yet already his favored woman impressive indeed.

Feeling his constant judging stare, I frowned slightly, discomfort rising inside me.

"Rosy? Why is it you?" Liona stared at me and shrieked as if she had seen a ghost.

She clearly hadn't expected me to be here. She kept glancing at my clothes nearly all were luxury limited-edition pieces long sold out. She had wondered about my background before. Now she finally understood: I must have seduced Captian. No wonder I owned so many limited items, of course, it was because he was supporting me.

Her gaze clung to me, filled with jealousy. She had practically thrown herself at Captian earlier, yet he hadn't looked at her once. Meanwhile, I was being spoiled by him? What made me so special?

"Liona, you two know each other?" Mr. Robbery asked, excited. Even if I was just a mistress, building a connection with me might save their family.

Liona lifted her chin with a hint of disdain. "She's my classmate."

Mr. Robbery's face lit up being classmates made everything easier.

Perhaps sensing his intention, Captian's eyes turned colder, chilling to the bone. "Rosy, come here."

All three pairs of eyes landed on me. I couldn't withstand the pressure anymore and walked over in small steps. Captian reached out, pulled me close, and sat me down on his lap.

Startled, I twisted slightly but didn't dare struggle too obviously. With Mr. Robbery and Liona watching, I forced myself to sit stiffly on Captian's lap.

Captian brushed his fingertip against the tear-mole under my eye and leaned close, his lips near my ear as he breathed softly, "She's your classmate?"

The warm breath made my ear tingle, sending a shiver through me. "President Anderson… she is. Why is she here today?"

Captian let out a cold, mocking smile. "To accept punishment."

I blinked, saying nothing.

"Young lady," Mr. Robbery pleaded, "we unintentionally offended President Anderson. Please beg him to forgive us."

He immediately glared at Liona, signaling her to speak too.

To her, it was a humiliation beyond measure. Her eyes reddened, her face twisting. After struggling for a long while, she finally forced out, "Rosy… we're classmates. Please help us."

I lowered my gaze, my lashes casting shadows that showed my displeasure.

I hated her. She had just been trying to seduce Captian, and now that she failed, she wanted to use our "classmate friendship" to make me plead for her? And earlier she even looked down on me.

Captian tightened his arm around my waist, eyes fixed on me. "You want to plead for them?"

Feeling the burning, desperate stares of both Mr. Robbery and Liona, I almost forgot to breathe. And Captian clearly pushing the responsibility onto me, really was wicked.

I curved my lips into a sweet, obedient smile. "I don't understand these things. Whatever President Anderson chooses to do, I fully support him."
