Chapter 1 - Researchers Log PT 1

The head scientist requested that I keep a journal on all of his research. Honestly I think this is a waste of time, but I don't get paid to complain, so here we go.

Day: 1

'Subject #30 reacted well with chemical #4926. No current abnormalities to be seen. Will continue to monitor.'

After showing the head scientist what I wrote he wanted me to explain what chemical #4926 is, and all other chemicals that we use during these experiments. I don't know why he wants me to. Its not like anyone else is going to read this, and yet he still wants me to do it. I mean the nerve of this guy. Yet, I'll still do it if it gets closer to that promotion.

Chemical #4926 is a mixture of chemical #8136 and chemical #2258. Chemical #8136 is a experimental form of healing tonic that attempts to mimic Sol's healing capabilities, and chemical #2258 is the blood of a Vampire. Chemical #4926 is an attempt to create a Vampire that can't be affected by the sun.

Day: 2

'After some testing with subject #30 we found that chemical #4926 was a disappointment. it seamed to nullify chemical #2258 creating a cure for vampirism rather than a day walker. Not what we were looking for, but this will increase our image in the eyes of the masses. This concludes the testing with chemical #4926.'

I'm not surprised that chemical #4926 didn't work. It was more of a long shot than anything else. Though it will make us some good money so we can't complain to much. We did start another set of experiments. Though its best if I let the head scientist explain.

'After the disappointment regarding chemical #4926. I had my students bring subject #30 to the monster district 30's new job is to be food for the many creatures we have there. Now, my next project is more personal than the last. I have longed to create a humanoid chimera, but moist of the paths I have previously pursued have just resulted in a dead fetus or a homunculi. This time I'm pursuing a different path. I have adopted an orphan and have given it the code name 7.'

Quick side note that orphan has eyes that glow. The head researcher never brings that up, but I think it should be noted that this "human" may not be as such from the beginning.

'I'm using it in to see if an already preestablished human would work better than a fetus. I have a similar subject to 7 though this one is was bourn into its current stage as a chimera-like humanoid. Where as 7 will be experimented on to see if it can reach that point. I'll start with chemical #1790 and see where we can go from there.'

7 seemed to meld well with chemical #1790, witch is dragons heart that was injected straight into the soul of 7. I don't know how that happened, but the head researcher said that it happened. Oddly enough he still wants me to record what happened despite none of us being able to enter the operating room.

Day 3

There is nothing to report.

Day 4

There is nothing to report.

Day 5

7 turned into an egg. As I was checking on it i noticed that it was an egg. Both the head researcher and I are unsure how this happened. We will be installing cameras in 7's cell in order to not miss an event like this again.

Day 6

To my disappointment nothing happened.

Day 7

Nothing to report.

Day 8

Nothing to report.

Day 9

Finally after a week something happened. as the head researcher was making his round he heard this horrific screech. I was near by checking on some of the other subjects when I heard the same screech. As we arrived we saw that 7 had hatched. It now had scales, horns, and a tail. Though the scales didn't cover the entirety of it's form. They were on its head, neck, torso, waist, thighs, arms, wrists. They all had the the colour of shadows dancing over an icy white void with what looked like stars shimmering amongst them. They say that a dragons scales tell what elemental affinity they have. If that is true then we can speculate that 7 has ice, shadow, and possibly Astro magics. Though that is mere speculation. 7 will need to get accustomed to its new body so we will postpone any further testing.

Day 39

'7 seems to have become accustomed to it's body. So its time to start phase two. I'll be administering chemical #5573 shortly.'

Chemical #5573 is the feather of a phoenix ground into a fine powder and administered through an iv. Its annoying how the head researcher wants me to explain and elaborate when he could just do so himself. The plan is to have both the dragon and phoenix take over and replace the human in 7. Though we will see if this works as humans are stubborn and fickle things.

Day 40

7 has gone into another egg. We don't know when it will hatch so we will update when it does.

Day 80

7 has exploded, and has turned into a pile of ashes. This is likely the how the phoenix revives itself. Though these ashes are cold to the touch. I wonder if we used the wrong chemical, or if it is caused by 7's affinities. Either way we will need to continue to monitor 7.

Day 100

7's body has reconstructed itself. Oddly enough it didn't screech like last time. It also didn't look much different. It had some feathers on its wings and head. Its hands could morph into talons with wicked dagger like claws. This transformation seems more stable than the last. Though that could be due to the soul getting used to the transfiguration, though that is yet to be seen.

Day 110

'7 seems to become acclimated to its new body. As much as I loth to use chemical #6663 it looks like it is the best option to maintain 7's humanoid form. it's death, cold, and regenerative capabilities would match well with 7's presumed affinities. Its unnatural senses and enhanced strength and speed will match well with chemical #5573 and chemical #1790.'

The head researcher went into more detail than he normally does, but my useless observations aside. Chemical #6663 is, oddly enough, the wendigo. A cannibalistic creature that is only killable with the fire of the soul. More commonly known as a soul weapon. This may create a creature out of our control if that happens the gods help us all.

Day 111

This time there was no waiting period. 7's wing membrane withered away and was replaced with this decaying flesh that looked to be make of the shadows them selves. A stags skull and antlers with colours matching that of its scales grew around its head. Just then 7's body shifted into that of a full wendigo breaking its chains and launched its self at both of us. The head researcher summoned his soul flame and struck 7 with it. The head researchers soul weapon was a bow staff that was made out of a golden flame. 7 made this horrendous screech that sounded like a dyeing stag. It crumbled to the ground and changed back into 7's previous form.

Day 112

The head researcher has gone mad. After that display yesterday one would think that trying to give 7 more power would be a bad thing. No, instead the head researcher decided to merge the venom gland of a manticore with 7's soul. I don't understand how he's done it with the rest of the experiments, but I'm pretty sure it is impossible to merge a gland into the soul that wasn't there in the first place. He'll do the experiment tomorrow, so we'll see if it is a success.

Day 113

He fucking did it. I'm unsure how as usual I wasn't allowed in the room. But I think i know how. He may have an ability that allows him to see and manipulate the soul. I don't know how he got it, if he even has it, but I do know that adding more power on to a creature that could kill entire kingdoms isn't wise.

Day 114

'So as you may know my previous assistant got a little loose with her thoughts, and forgot that I had access to these writings.'

I guess I'll be taking over keeping an eye on this journal. I should start with my name as you dear reader knows me as head researcher. A mocking way to refer to me but ill let this slide. I am Dr. Alucard and you shall refer to me as such. Oh, I almost forgot. My last assistant will no longer be in service as of this moment.
