Chapter 2 - Teacher?

When 7 awoke it found that it had the ability to use manticore venom. It also knew that any more modifications to its soul would sunder it. After an unknown amount of time the Master returned. It started to put these odd machines on 7, and after a few seconds it came to the same conclusion that 7 had.

"We can continue with the experiments on you. You're going to be moved to our care facility. There you will learn everything you need to be useful to us." The Master said. The voice sounded masculine and 7 deduced that it was male. 7 didn't know what the- What was it again? 7 used to be one of them, but it seems to have forgotten what the male before it was. Oh, well it will know in time.

"Hmm, it seems that the experiments have messed with your mind. An odd side effect, but not one that cant be fixed." The Master started to move towards, but it didn't make a move. It knew that if it were to make a move it wouldn't end well for it.

The Master then picked 7 up and carried it to a different holding cell. This one was different form the one it was in before. It was white instead of a dull grey. There was a bed with white sheets and pillows. Rather than the cot it had before.

"This is where you will be staying from now on. I or one of my associates will come in and teach you what you need to know." With that the Master left. 7 looked at its new cell and was confused. It never had something this nice so it was confused as to why it got it. All it did was eat, sleep, and survive. It didn't know why it was getting special treatment. 7 would later realize that it was getting special treatment due to the fact that it survived the torturous treatment that it had endured. But for now it was confused as to why it got this treatment.

For now 7 went to the bed that was in the center of the far wall of her new cell. As it got closer to the bed it could see that the wooden frame of the bed was pure white and had no sign of paint. 7 had some instinctual knowledge of trees due to the Wendigo. It didn't know why the highly territorial and murderous monster would have knowledge on trees, but it did. 7 could feel the icy magic coursing throughout the wood. Even though it was lumber it still carries echoes of the tree it once was, and those echoes could be felt if one had the ice element.

7 climbed on to the bed and swiftly drifted off into slumber. That night 7 dreamed of a lush snowy forest. The forest was grand an in the center there was a grand tree. In the branches of that tree was a phoenix though it didn't look much like a phoenix. Instead of being an orangish-red it was a blinding white. 7 couldn't get a good look at the bird as a dragon with scales like stars flew over head. After the dragon disappeared from 7's sight that it looked back at the tree only to find a Wendigo looking back at it. It's flesh decaying into shadowy whisps. One of its boney fingers went to its stag skull of a head. In a motion for quiet. It then lunged at 7 only for her to be brought back to reality when it's cell door opened.

7 looked up to find that The Master was walking into it's cell. 7 didn't see the woman behind its Master. Thought it wasn't paying attention to its Master. It was more worried about the dream it had, as that was its first dream. It was still pondering it when it finally noticed that The Master was in front if it.

"So you're starting to think? Good, just don't think about things you need not know." The way 7's Master spoke to it wasn't so much a threat as it was a promise. 7 knew that it wasn't meant to think too much about what The Master was saying, or would be saying. But it couldn't help its self. It was curious by nature and after some thought 7 nodded its head in understanding.

"Good, now then on to more pressing matters. This lady here beside me will train you in all aspects that I deem necessary. Her name is Lilly though you shall refer to her as Teacher." 7 was confused as to why it would need a teacher. It already knew how to fight and use its abilities.

"I already know how to fight though. I don't see why I need to learn how to fight." 7's voice was surprisingly soft and feminine, and held some confusion at what its master said. 7 then, as if to prove its point, summoned a shadow that took a generic humanoid shape and started to spar with it. The two exchanged some basic kicks and punches and let loose the occasional spell. All in all it wasn't to bad for a creature that was born only seven years ago, then reborn for another half a year.

7's body then started to reshape. It's wendigo features started to become more prominent. The magics holding the shadow together started to mimic the change in 7. Then like a wave of light hit it the shadow started to deliquesce turning into a puddle of shadows. The Wendigo then looked at the two humans and started to speek.

"You've killed me thrice before. Yet you put me in the body of a child. Though her soul is strong. Its been weekend by your experiments. What do you wish to accomplish with this child. Create another calamity?" Unlike its last incarnation in 7 the Wendigo seems to have some form of sentience. Lilly looked at the head researcher with some confusion.

"I may have to impose restrictions on your host. You have spoken too much." The head researcher was ready to kill the damn Wendigo again.

"Hahaha, you think that would matter. Are you forgetting that there are three other souls here that can nullify your magics? And besides you can't put any restrictions on this soul with out killing her." As much as the head researcher hated to admit it. The wendigo was right.

"So, is the soul of the child still safe with you controlling her body?" Lilly asked.

"Ahh, a priestess of light. Funny seeing you here, but yes the child is safe as long as one of us is in control of her body. Her soul and body won't be harmed. After all our lives are tied in with hers." Lilly looked at the Wendigo who has taken over the body of the child. As she looks closer she can see four souls with in. None of them seem to be in a clash. Though the bigger soul of the Wendigo seems to be tied closer to the soul of the child than the others.

"That's enough, Lilly you will train 7 in the ways of your old God. Wendigo give 7 control over its body back." The head researcher barked order clearly annoyed by the Wendigo.

"Tha-" Just before Lilly could utter a complaint the door to 7s new cell slammed shut and a chuckle resounded from the Wendigo.

"As touchy as ever Lucas. It seems 7 would like to speak with you." The Wendigo, after saying that, gave 7 control over her body back. Morphed and changed back into 7 Lilly saw that the scales and feathers never really left the Wendigo they were just hidden behind the shadows.

"Teacher? Were my skills not suitable for Master? Is that why he was angry?" Even though 7 was tormented by Lucas, as the Wendigo called him, she still saw him as an important figure. It was only natural that she thought that it was her ineptitude at fighting that made her master mad.

"No, love. It was the Wendigo that made him mad. Though we should start with your training. I need you sit on the floor and focus on the mana. Then I need to manifest your will over it." Lilly forgot that 7 was still a child. Till she spoke, that is, 7's voice was small and squeaky. Reminding Lilly that 7 was only a child. Thus the exercise that she gave to 7 was to teach her how to use her mana more effectively.

However 7 already had a good grasp on controlling her mana. That was likely due to the three magical beasts that she was fused with. Though Lilly thought that 7 was a dragon-phoenix hybrid cursed by a Wendigo. Even though there was contradictory evidence. Lilly chose to ignore whatever evidence to the contrary there was, after all, she was there to train a stray. That was why she joined her current church, to teach the strays. To teach those that never got the opportunity to be taught.

"No, don't command the mana inside you to influence. Let the mana do the work." Lilly gently coached 7 on how influence the mana on her surroundings.
