Chapter 3 - An abusive mom!? Not for my Fiancee!

3 days since Lucine and Albert met

Lucine and Albert were having breakfast, alone in the dining hall, it was a usual morning in the Nocturne estate, based on the lord and the 3 days Albert spent there, Duke Nocturne (his first name was not I the game, but based on the servants' conversations, his first name starts with an M.) and duchess Olivianne Nocturne, weren't home often, leading poor little Lucine to take control of the household when important events weren't going on. Maybe the reason for her excitement when they first met was because her father was there to greet me. Albert was eating some pancakes with 2 eggs (his request since he was a picky eater in his past life). on top while Lucine was drinking some tea, with pretzels and and some prime rib, with a sorrow expression on her little face. She was clearly feeling down about something, so Albert tried to lighten the mood.

"Hello Lucine, this is Mr. Pancake, what is wrong?" He said in his regular voice (he couldn't use a goofy voice in front of the duke' daughter/future villainess(?) ) holding his plate in front of him with his fork on top of it, looking like a Mustache. Lucine laughed, it was always fun to see her laugh, with her eyes closes in ecstasy and her mouth open wide, it was straight out of a dream. He needed to keep her this happy.

"Sorry if my mood was feeling quite low Albert-dear, it's just, my mum is visiting and she can be so harsh, I know it's just to help me a proper lady but I, but I-" at this point she stopped smiling and started crying, her tears landing down on her uneaten rib as she tried to hold back her tears.

"This woman, this woman! This woman, who's mention makes my precious Lucine cry...!? No, I won't let that happen, I will walk up to the duchess and tell her how much manners you have, you are the most polite woman I ever known, you laugh at my jokes and you are my favorite character." Albert yelled, although he probably won't be too harsh on duchess Olivianne, he still needed to protect Lucine's happiness and mental health, he still has 5 years before they enter the academy, so he needs to be extra funny, extra vigilant, and extra kind until then (though Lucine doesn't know the difference.)

"Please don't speak against mum, if you speak to her and criticize her methods, she might, she might do horrible things to you. What kind of fiancee would I be to see you get hurt? One who only sees you as a toy, that's what." Albert wasn't expecting Lucine to be so direct, yet was slightly relieved she didn't question what he meant by 'favorite character'. He didn't have much time to reply before Kuroba and Collene walked in, their faces serious.

"Young masters, lady Olivianne has arrived, please prepare yourselves." Collene said, her red eyes a stark contrast to her pure white hair in the sunlight entering through the window. Lucine turned pale and I took a deep breath as I heard the clicking of high heels and rows of servants scrambling in to open the door. And in walked her, duchess Olivianne, the first reason my precious Lucine turned into a villainess, her hair was a longer, more grown out version of Lucine's black-blue hair. Her eyes were a fierce purple and she's wearing a large, bejeweled black dress, of she didn't have a such a serious expression of her face, she might be mistaken for her daughter.

"Lucine, I see you're getting along with your fiancee just fine, and you, you are treating Lucine with respect, right?!" Oliviane's voice was just as intimidating in the game, he couldn't believe this was the apparently kindhearted duchess that appears near the end of the game to arrest her cruel daughter. Buy still, Albert has to speak up, for Lucine's smile's sake.

"MISS OLIVIANNE!!! You dare torture my fiancee with such overbearing harsh lessons. She is a proper lady and is doing just fine, her laughter is like that of a clear stream. Her smile is from a dream, and are you trying to shape her into a reflection of your cruel self!?" Albert yelled, trying to look tall (and away from Olivianne's thighs), but failing (at both). Lucine is blushing like crazy at Albert's compliments. and has a terrified expression on her face, she knows what her mother is capable of, and she can't even imagine what she might do to him.

"You dare to speak back to me, you lesser noble! My daughter's etiquette hasn't reached levels of the highest eschalon of manners!" Olivianne retorted, but Albert found a weakness in her reply.

"She doesn't need to reach the highest Eschalon. She isn't going to be a queen, please just let her live a normal childhood, she can't be you, in fact, if you are yelling and trying to drill manners into your daughter, then you lack manners." Albert replied, Olivianne looked like she was about to burst. But took a deep breath and walked away.

"I don't want anything to do with the likes of you two anymore but I'll give you the normal childhood, though, you're quite the strange boy." Olivianne chuckled, and then walked right out. Lucine was sweating and lying on the ground and one of her servants was already carrying her back to her seat as she took a deep breath and the hugged me with a leap.

"My sweet Albert, you saved me... you're amazing, I didn't know anyone could stand up to mother... but you did. Thank you so much!"

"You're welcome. It is my duty to protect my fiancee, is it not?!" Albert replied, and Lucine finally let him go, her hand on the fork as she picked up a slice of the prime rib.

"Say ah." She said. Albert blushed slightly, but that only made Lucine push the meat up against his lip and smiled warmly. He then ate the tender meat, it was the best meat he ever tasted yummy. Lucine giggled, her smile bright as ever.

"You're amazing"

---

It was bedtime and Lucine was sitting in her room, but then she got an idea, she plopped out of her bed and tip-toed across the hall, and that's when she found Albert's room. She quietly opened the door using some low level dark magic, and entered to see him sleeping.

"My dear precious Albert Luddovan, no one will ever touch or harm that smile of yours while I'm around." She said, for that night, her eyes turned foggy as the clouds and she didn't even need to sleep, it was if love itself was keeping her warm and awake... Thankfully she left 5 minutes before Albert awake.
