Nyx left for Sky Peaks three hours before dawn. She wanted to reach there early to assess the terrain before the trial began.
Raziel escorted her to the border of lion territory personally, along with Kira and a small group of guards. At the border, when they dismounted, he pulled Nyx aside.
"This is where I have to leave you." He said in a tense tone. "Hawk territory rules say trial participants must enter alone."
"I know."
"I've decided to watch your trial. I've handled everything in Pride Lands. You don't need to worry." He cupped her face. "You're the smartest, most stubborn, most infuriating person I've ever met. Use that. Trust your instincts, and remember, there's always a third option."
Nyx nodded with a smile.
They kissed one final time. Then Nyx mounted her horse and rode into the hawk territory alone.
