Chapter 6 - 02: A nightmare (3/4)

"It's okay, I've got you. You're safe now, Shinazugawa." He repeated the words from earlier, his voice firm and protective. Sanemi buried his face in Giyuu's chest, seeking comfort in his embrace. "Don't let go... please."

He whispered, his voice muffled against Giyuu's shirt.

"Sleep now, Sanemi. I watch over you for tonight." Sanemi nodded against Giyuu's chest, his breathing slowly becoming steady as he started to relax.

"Thank you, Giyuu." He murmured before drifting off to sleep, still clinging to Giyuu like a lifeline. Giyuu smiled softly, feeling a sense of accomplishment as he heard Sanemi say his name. He adjusted his position slightly to make Sanemi more comfortable, and began stroking his hair again. "Sweet dreams, Sanemi."

He whispered back, settling in for a long night of watching over his newfound friend.

The room was quiet except for the sound of Sanemi's peaceful breathing. Giyuu remained vigilant, occasionally glancing at the clock as the hours ticked by. He couldn't help but feel a sense of responsibility for Sanemi now. As the night went on, Giyuu found himself growing tired, but he refused to fall asleep. He continued to hold Sanemi protectively, occasionally humming a soft lullaby to keep the nightmares at bay. Eventually, the first light of dawn began to seep through the curtains. Sanemi stirred slightly in his sleep, but didn't wake up.

Giyuu noticed that his trembling had stopped completely, and he felt a wave of relief wash over him. Giyuu carefully reached for his phone to check the time. It was 5:30 AM. He sighed and decided to stay awake until Sanemi naturally woke up, wanting to make sure he was okay.

He continued to hold him, occasionally checking his breathing and temperature to ensure he was alright. Sanemi stirred again, this time mumbling something in his sleep. Giyuu leaned in closer to listen, his curiosity piqued. Sanemi's mumbling became clearer, and Giyuu could make out the words "please don't leave" being repeated softly.

Giyuu's heart ached at the vulnerability in Sanemi's voice, and he tightened his hold once more. "I'm not going anywhere, Sanemi. I promise."

He whispered reassuringly, hoping it would reach Sanemi's subconscious. Sanemi's expression relaxed at Giyuu's words, and he seemed to settle back into a deeper sleep. Giyuu couldn't help but feel a sense of protectiveness over him now.

He silently vowed to be there for Sanemi, no matter what. Their relationship had definitely changed after this night. As the morning light grew brighter, Sanemi began to stir more frequently. Giyuu could tell he was waking up. Sanemi's eyes fluttered open slowly, and he blinked in confusion as he realized he was still clinging to Giyuu. "Tomioka...?" He mumbled groggily, still half-asleep and trying to process what happened.* Call me Giyuu.

Sanemi looked up at Giyuu, his eyes slightly unfocused but soft.*

"Giyuu... why are we...?"

He trailed off, noticing their position and the fact that he was practically wrapped around Giyuu like a koala. Sanemi's cheeks flushed slightly as the memories of last night came rushing back. He quickly tried to pull away, but Giyuu held him firmly in place.

"Don't move yet. You're still recovering."

Giyuu said firmly, though there was a hint of amusement in his voice.

"Don't you dare to give me orders and if you tell this anyone..."

Sanemi scowled, but there was no real anger behind it. He was too tired to put up his usual tough guy act. "Who would I even tell? And shut up, I'm not weak."

He grumbled, though he stopped trying to escape Giyuu's hold. Giyuu chuckled softly at Sanemi's stubbornness.

"You're right, you're not weak. But last night proved otherwise."

He teased gently, trying to lighten the mood. Sanemi glared at Giyuu, but it was clear he was embarrassed. He buried his face back into Giyuu's chest to hide his blush. "Shut up, Giyuu. I hate you."

He muttered, though it sounded more like a childish complaint than actual hatred. Giyuu smiled warmly, running his fingers through Sanemi's hair again.

"I hate you too, Sanemi. But you're stuck with me now."

He said playfully, enjoying this new dynamic between them.

"Whatever... I make myself ready and we never talk about this situation." Sanemi nodded in agreement, slowly untangling himself from Giyuu and sitting up. He rubbed his eyes and stretched, trying to act normal.

"Yeah, never happened. And if you mention it again, I'll kill you."

He threatened, though he knew he wouldn't actually do it. Not after last night. Giyuu smirked and stood up, stretching as well. "Sure thing. But remember, I have blackmail material now."

He teased again, watching Sanemi's reaction with amusement. Sanemi shot him a murderous look, but it was obvious he was trying not to laugh."You're such an ass, Giyuu."

He stood up and walked over to his closet, grabbing his uniform. "Just don't expect me to be nice to you at school." Giyuu shrugged nonchalantly, already changing into his own uniform. "Wouldn't dream of it. But you'll still have to deal with me being your roommate."

He said with a hint of satisfaction, knowing he had the upper hand now. Sanemi rolled his eyes and finished getting dressed, adjusting his uniform jacket.

"Ugh, I hate this. Why did we have to be assigned together anyway?" He complained, though there was less bite in his voice than usual. Giyuu finished dressing and leaned against the wall, crossing his arms.

"Fate, I suppose. Or maybe our teacher just wanted to torture us."

He joked, eyeing Sanemi with a smirk. "Or maybe it's because we secretly get along better than we let on." Sanemi froze for a moment, then scoffed loudly. "As if. I'd rather eat a million bugs than get along with you."

He denied it vehemently, but his ears turned slightly red again. Giyuu chuckled at Sanemi's obvious flustered state.

"Keep telling yourself that, Sanemi. I'll just wait until you admit it." He grabbed his bag and headed towards the door.
