Chapter 55 - chapter 55 :The Architects of the Broken Vow (Chapter 55) - The Final Act of the Architect

I. The Bait Accepted enraged

The silent image of the Vow symbol—the two stick figures holding hands—flashed across the smart glass of the Blue Crest Chalet office. It was the ultimate provocation, confirming to Kim Seok-jin that his greatest fear had materialized: Bae Ha-eun's memory was recovering, and Taehyung was using the Vow against him.

The buzzing noise of the helicopter instantly died down. Seok-jin, consumed by pure, white-hot rage, abandoned his flight. He grabbed a heavy caliber pistol from his desk, his impeccably tailored suit contrasting violently with the desperate intent in his eyes.

"He stopped," Joon muttered into his comms. "The pilot is still on the pad, but Seok-jin is moving toward the front entrance. He's coming out."

"He wants to eliminate the threat himself," Taehyung assessed grimly. "He thinks he can silence us both and destroy the evidence."

Taehyung knew the true evidence wasn't on the servers; it was in Seok-jin's control. He signaled Joon to proceed with the immobilization plan, instructing him to flank the chalet and be ready to deploy the EMP pulse the moment Seok-jin was outside the building's blast radius.

II. The Confrontation in the Snow

Seok-jin burst through the heavy front door, blinded by fury. He immediately saw Taehyung standing exposed in the center of the clearing, illuminated by the automated spotlights.

"You should have left her dead, Taehyung!" Seok-jin roared, leveling the pistol. "The Vow was broken the moment her mother betrayed us! You saved a curse!"

"I saved the witness," Taehyung corrected, holding his hands open and empty, focusing the entire confrontation on himself. He didn't want Seok-jin to know Joon was maneuvering into position. "And you weren't fighting for justice, Seok-jin. You killed your father and blamed a ghost to claim the company."

"He was weak! He was going to give it all to her mother's family!" Seok-jin screamed, pulling the trigger.

The shot cracked through the cold air.

Taehyung moved, not to dodge the bullet, but to draw Seok-jin's next shot toward the main structure. The first bullet struck the ground near his foot.

Now, Taehyung thought. He is focused.

Suddenly, the security lights flickered violently. Joon had deployed the EMP pulse from the flanking position. The pulse did not reach the chalet directly, but it fried the surrounding security sensors, the sniper's targeting system, and, critically, the helicopter's avionics.

The helicopter on the pad went dead, its engine noise replaced by a sparking silence. Seok-jin's escape route was neutralized.

III. The Destruction of the Evidence

Enraged by the technological failure, Seok-jin didn't waste time on Taehyung. He realized the Chairman's true goal: stopping his escape and destroying his proof. He bolted back inside the chalet.

"Joon, now! Follow me!" Taehyung yelled, drawing his own non-lethal defense weapon and sprinting after Seok-jin.

They burst into the main office. Seok-jin wasn't at the desk. He was standing by a massive, integrated entertainment center built into the wall. On the screen, a digital countdown was flickering: T-minus 60 seconds.

"The main servers are protected by a hardened case," Seok-jin panted, holding a small detonation device in his hand. "But the external power supply is already cut. I don't need the Chairman's assets, Taehyung. I need to erase the evidence of patricide. When this room blows, my involvement vanishes forever!"

Taehyung knew this was the final, desperate gamble. Seok-jin intended to use the explosion to cover his escape through a hidden passage, destroying the proof of his father's murder and the full scope of the conspiracy.

T-minus 30 seconds.

"You kill the evidence, you sentence yourself," Taehyung warned, stepping toward him, weapon raised. "Without that evidence, I can't guarantee Professor Shin's safety. The world will believe you killed him too."

IV. The Final Act

Seok-jin laughed—a harsh, manic sound. "I'll take the risk! But I will not let Ha-eun return to the throne!"

He pressed the detonation button.

T-minus 5 seconds.

Taehyung didn't shoot. He lunged, tackling Seok-jin away from the blast zone and toward a reinforced structural pillar. At the same time, Joon, who had anticipated the hidden escape route, deployed a powerful net gun, entangling Seok-jin and pinning him against the pillar just as the timer hit zero.

A blinding flash erupted from the integrated entertainment center. The blast was not a massive explosion, but a localized burst of heat and concussive force. The entire wall unit was pulverized, the main corporate servers reduced to molten fragments of metal and wire. The evidence of patricide was physically destroyed.

The room was filled with smoke and the ringing of alarms.

Taehyung stood over the pinned, struggling Seok-jin, his face streaked with soot.

"The evidence is gone, Taehyung!" Seok-jin screamed, thrashing against the net. "You lose! I am free! The Vow is dead!"

Taehyung reached into his inner pocket and pulled out a small, military-grade USB drive.

"You destroyed the servers, Seok-jin," Taehyung said, his voice flat. "But while you were busy trying to wipe the slate clean, Ha-eun accessed the secondary, offline cloud storage months ago. We didn't need your servers. We needed you."

He placed the USB drive on the desk. It contained the complete, mirrored evidence of Seok-jin's financial manipulations and the digital voice recordings of the patricide he had so carelessly stored.

"The Architects have finished their work, Seok-jin. You are officially in custody."

The war was over, won not by the Chairman's brute force, but by the combined, cold intellect of the two Architects of the Broken Vow.
