Chapter 14 - Profile: Ride the Lighting

Name: Maehara Naoto

Gender: Male

Age: 23

Identity: Bassist for the band [Wayward] and one of the perpetrators responsible for multiple arson cases.

Experience: One of the witnesses to the [Starfall] incident two years ago, he possesses a small meteorite fragment. He lived with his mother since childhood. After predicting his mother's death in a car accident, he risked his life to try and change the outcome, but due to "insufficient conditions," he was unable to interfere with the result. From then on, he became disheartened, falling into a bleak life full of predetermined events.

By chance, he met the lead singer of [Wayward], Leader. After learning the truth about the 'predetermined' future, he chose to join the band and awakened his Stand, acting to destroy the so-called 'Paradise'.

He serves as the "pillar" of the band, taking on almost all the chores and heavy lifting. He is a good helper in fulfilling the band members' wishes (including but not limited to moving equipment, helping to bring meals, booking hotels and tickets for travel, managing the band's accounts, and all negotiations between the band and Livehouse).

Maehara Naoto has not been learning bass for long, yet his technique is surprisingly excellent. However, he does not stand out much during regular rehearsals and performances, occupying an inconspicuous position in the band.

He has no particular preference for music styles. His Stand is named after the album "Ride The Lightning" by the band [Metallica], and the title track "Ride The Lightning" describes the fear that spreads in the heart of a death row inmate trapped in an electric chair, facing impending death and an inescapable predicament, as well as his desperate struggle to pray to God for salvation.

Maehara Naoto has a rather gloomy personality and harbors an inexplicable hatred for everything in society that runs in an orderly fashion. Therefore, he feels no guilt whatsoever when committing arson. Aside from band activities, he has almost no personal life, only occasionally frequenting Asukayama Park to clear his mind in his free time.

Maehara Naoto was identified by the police as the sole perpetrator of the 'Asukayama Bloodbath'. This incident was classified as a violent crime targeting the police, resulting in the deaths of 7 Police Officers and causing an extremely negative social impact.

After the incident, Asukayama Park announced a temporary closure for one month and implemented relevant rectifications to enhance its security system.

Currently, his Stand and memories have been made into a 'DISC' and stolen by Togawa Fuuki's 'White Snake', and his body will die of heart failure after a period of time.

Note: From chapter 33, the name [Ride The Lightning] changes to [Lightning Rider] by Fuuki.

============

All those who possess a meteorite fragment have the ability to predict the future. Although the extent of prediction varies from person to person, the predicted outcomes are almost certain to come true, becoming 'predetermined' facts—however, with the intervention of Stand abilities, the future may deviate to some extent.

According to Leader, the lead singer of [Wayward], when a large number of meteorite fragments are gathered in one person, a transcendent being, almost like a deity, will be born. Its power will be sufficient to break the shackles of the false 'Paradise' and open up a brand new future for the world.
