Chapter 7 - Chapter Seven

Chapter Seven

Dawn Pov.

I followed her back to her office and she led me to a chair to sit down while she took her own seat behind the large desk.

I gave the chair an appraising look, finding nothing off about it before I gently sat down and turned to face her.

"Is there something you need?" I asked and she smiled.

"I want you to be real with me, I can believe that you were lying to your mates earlier but I need to hear it fr-"

"Why would you assume such a thing? Principal?" I asked, my right hand perusing the files seated on her desk and she pushed her glasses up to her eyes with evident irritation at being interrupted.

"I meant th-"

"Oh" she gasped at my words as a whole file disappeared beneath my palms and I smirked before retrieving it from the space again.

"You really can manipulate space, then you must know the purple fox's whereabouts!" She suddenly exclaimed, shooting to her feet with glee and a feeling of foreboding rose inside of me but I forced myself to hold myself and be calm.

"Now why would I know something like that, I didn't even know there was a purple fox until today at the training fields," I said, refuting her claims and the glee disappeared, replaced by disappointment before she sat back down and clasped her hands together.

"That's also fine. How big is your space?" She questioned inquisitively and I blanched.

"Why would I tell you that? I'm not that stupid," I shot at her and she looked visibly uncomfortable at my suspicious gaze.

"She looks quite uncomfortable, it seems like you caught her doing something bad. Why does she keep asking all these intrusive questions?" Rae Rae asked curiously inside my head and I rolled my eyes internally at her.

Ask me if I know. We're both at the same confusion juncture so don't ask me that.

"At least I'm a bit better than you in that aspect.. you're confused all the time," she facepalmed with a grin showing all fangs and I sighed, shaking my head.

"You don't have to tell me that, although I'd appreciate it if you would. But it's quite alright, you can retire back to your room and do not inform anyone of what we discussed today." She ordered and I nodded, already thinking of ways to figure out what her plan really was and why she was so focused on the fox and my spacial manipulation.

"This is all your fault, you made me a purple fox with five tails and then gave me a space manipulation ability." I scolded the leopard halfheartedly inside my mind and she just stared back at me, a tad bit of remorse clear in her eyes.

"You can forfeit it if you don't want it" she suggested and I perked up, a chance to go back to my world? Of course I'd take it.

"How so?" I quickly asked.

"Through death of course… you should quickly accept so I can make use of heavenly thunder to strike you down," she grinned at me, her fangs glinting menacingly and I gave her an unimpressed look.

"What was I even expecting from such a useless system," I mumbled as I made my way through the hallway that led out of the part of the building the office was in.

As soon as I stepped into the lobby, breathing in the fresh air like nothing had happened inside the building, someone rushed up to me, almost knocking me over.

"Princess?" I asked, surprised by her but she wasn't looking good.

"Help… me" she whispered, her face turning paler at each second and I quickly rushed up to catch her as she stumbled.

"What's wrong with you?" I asked in concern but she began to tremble all over and I hissed before storing her away in my space and glancing around.

I couldn't change into my fox right now or I'd be faster than I ever could on feet, but I had to or everyone would quickly know that I was the purple fox.

And that wasn't what I wanted now.

"I'll help you out, she seems really out of it" Rae Rae whispered and I nodded with gratitude. The system wanted to help me out and I recalled that I had a healing pill or was it a healing potion? I already forgot.

Whatever!

I growled lowly before taking off to my room building and it took about ten whole minutes to get there amidst the lingering stares and murmurings of the students.

When I got there, I raced up the stairs and quickly got into my room then bolted it before bringing her out of the spacial realm.

"She seems poisoned," Rae Rae said as soon as we checked her over and I nodded, she was looking an awful shade of blue and dark purple bruises were forming on her body like the poison was killing quickly from the inside.

"Can the healing stuff work?" I quickly asked, aware that this particular potion wasn't easy to get and I didn't know when I might be in need of it.

But still, I had to try even though this girl irked me badly.

"Yes, here it is" Rae Rae quickly made the pills appear in my palms and I slapped it onto the mouth of the princess.

She struggled against my hold for a while but still succumbed to slumber and lost consciousness soon.

"She's a member of the royal family, why's it so simple to poison and use her?" I asked, staring at her peaceful face as the symptoms began to disappear from her skin.

"Precisely why. A member of the royal family is like one of its roots and if removed, it would greatly affect the rest so none of them are spared in this struggle for power." Rae Rae explained and I nodded.

It made a bit of sense but still, why drag innocent people into the foolish fight for power? She could tell at first glance that this princess was a very gentle and timid kind of person.

Yeah don't judge a book by its covers but have you seen the princess? I don't think she has any cover at all. No wonder it was that easy to poison her.

"But why was she running though?" I asked, thinking of how we had almost collided earlier and Rae Rae's face took on a thoughtful look.

"I don't know.. maybe someone was chasing her to finish the job?" He asked and I nodded.

It seemed rather plausible that that was what happened. But she would tell us herself when she finally wakes up, we just have to wait patiently for that.
