"I keep telling you, it wasn't me," I insisted.
No matter how hard I tried to explain myself, Darius and Pauline remained determined to pin the blame on me, convinced I had stolen Elodie's boyfriend.
My mind drifted back to those years when they mistook me for their real daughter.
During that time, Darius and Pauline had shown me genuine kindness.
But once Aileen returned, all that warmth transformed into guilt directed toward her, and with each passing year, they grew increasingly cruel toward me. They even questioned my integrity.
