Ana's POV
Ridley rushed me to the hospital, his hands trembling as he helped me from the car.
The doctor's expression grew grave after examining my leg. "This is an old injury that's been made worse by recent trauma. Hospital observation is necessary."
"Without proper treatment this time, permanent damage could result."
Only then did the full weight of what Ridley had done seem to hit him.
Regret flickered cold in his eyes as he gazed at me, his voice dropping to an unexpected gentleness. "Ana, I'm sorry. This is entirely my doing."
"I'll arrange the finest medical team available. I'll handle all expenses. Even if your recovery isn't complete, I'll care for you permanently."
I studied Ridley's face under the harsh hospital lighting. Those sharp brows, that defined nose—still devastatingly handsome. When his gaze met mine, something almost tender passed between us.
It reminded me of our early marriage, when he'd shown me such sweetness.
