Ana's POV
A cold shiver ran through Morris as I stared at him.
"What's wrong?" he asked.
I let out a quiet laugh. "Never imagined someone would have this entire day mapped out way in advance. You're pretty sure of yourself, aren't you."
Morris caught my teasing tone. He smiled and drew me close, nuzzling his tousled hair against my neck like some oversized puppy seeking affection.
"It's not confidence. I'm just that brazen—you were destined to be mine eventually," Morris said.
Everything began the instant he discovered I was considering leaving Ridley.
From that point on, Morris became like a predator waiting in the darkness, focused on his target, patiently waiting for the right moment.
Like they say—persistence eventually wins out. After all this time, he'd finally drawn me into his orbit.
