Ana's POV
"We'll discuss this later. Get out. Now." Ridley's voice cut through the air like ice. This was his shot at landing a deal with the Vernon family, and he wasn't about to let me mess it up again.
"I'm not here for you," I replied, my tone flat as I shot him a look that could freeze hell over.
Ridley scoffed. "Not here for me? Ana, are you too embarrassed to admit the truth now?"
Aileen jumped in, her voice dripping with fake sweetness. "Ana, you need to be realistic. When you demanded that divorce recently, you must've known you'd come crawling back.
"But Ridley's got important business today. Mr. Vernon will be dining here shortly, and since I've worked with the Vernon Group before, I can help Ridley close this deal. This is serious stuff, so don't you dare cause a scene."
I watched Ridley's expression shift at Aileen's words. One moment he'd been drinking in my appearance, the next he was looking at me like I was trash on his shoe.
