Jefferson's POV

Cathrine refused to let me speak. She spun around and fled from my study, her footsteps echoing through the hallway like gunshots. I cursed silently, feeling frustration and panic clawing at my chest.

Gordon, who had been seated across from my desk moments earlier, stood up with worry written across his face.

"Don't move," I barked at him, my voice cutting through the air. "I need to handle this myself."

I pushed past him and stepped into the shadowy corridor. Cathrine was already rounding the corner, moving with the kind of frantic energy that made my stomach twist with guilt.

"Cathrine," I called out, but she kept running.

I exhaled heavily, knowing what I had to do even though it would make everything worse. My Alpha authority rolled through the space between us like a wave, forcing her compliance. "Stop walking, Cathrine. Now."
