"Given that Candace's still alive and you're dressed for Javier's ridiculous party, I'd say you're managing better than expected," Gordon remarked, his voice carrying that familiar note of amusement.
I kept my gaze fixed on the door, refusing to acknowledge his presence. Elisabeth should have emerged from her room minutes ago. "I fail to see why everyone insists on creating unnecessary drama," I responded, my tone deliberately flat and emotionless.
Gordon's laughter echoed through the hallway. "Drama becomes entertaining when it's not your world crashing down. You might consider giving it a try." His voice grew more serious. "What's your plan with Candace now that she's returned? If murder was on your agenda, I assumed you'd have acted by now."
