Chapter 54 - Chapter 53: Borderlands

Yuki and Tengoku roamed into the borderlands of Ashina. She had her pistols gripped into her hands and a grin on her face as she awaited trouble.

Tengoku peacefully accompanied Yuki at her side, hands in his pockets. He didn't really expect much, but at the same time he was on guard.

Yuki used her senses and watched carefully as they walked, ready to act on any sudden movements.

"There's bound to be something out here."

"It's almost like you're praying for it. Shouldn't we be hoping that there is none?"

"Hoping for it? Of course, I rarely get to see action without my assassin garbs on, I just want to show off to you a little bit too."

"I wouldn't mind having a bit of a show."

He laughed to himself before he stopped in his tracks.

"Well looks like you got what you wanted..there's a lot of people close.."

Yuki spun her pistols around violently fast, the grin grew larger as she knew an engagement was about to begin.

"Sieg Heil!..Sieg Heil!"

A group of diligent soldiers started stepping in formation around Ashina, moving closer to the border and entrance. They eyed Yuki and Tengoku and stopped, looking at the two. One of the soldiers spoke.

"I see it is children. Perhaps the White Haired one may serve well for the Gauleiter of this area.."

They smiled as they eyed Yuki, almost ignoring Tengoku. They ignored him for the most part since he wouldn't fuel their project, at least not on a surface level.

Yuki eyed them all down, she kept spinning her pistols and suddenly moved quick, blasting a few soldiers, with every jut of her hands and wrists she fired off shots, laughing maniacally as she did so.

The soldiers spiraled and scattered with Yuki's attack.

"SHE HAS A GUN! SHE HAS A GUN!"

The soldiers aimed their weapons and blasted at her.

Tengoku stood, watching Yuki fight the soldiers. He would've helped but honestly, it was safer to stay out of her way than to take all of them on at once by himself. He also admired Yuki, and thought she was extremely beautiful and powerful.

He did not like that she wasn't necessarily the softest or nicest girl, but there was nothing to him like seeing a strong woman. He had spent his entire life watching his mother battle it out with some of the most violent sharks in the world. To see her in someone else was his biggest dream. Aside from one other thing..

Yuki gracefully flipped around blasting her guns, dodging bullets left and right as her mana pistols fired off beam after beam, she had quite the knack for this sort of thing even if it wasn't much to go with for the future, she was quite the expert with her guns.

"Retreat! Retreat!" The soldiers started running from Yuki. "We don't have the enhancements! We can not win!"*They continued to flee, running from Yuki.

Yuki started running after the soldiers still laughing as she did so, she continued gunning down soldiers and the like. Eventually she had wiped out the entire brigade, leaving nothing left of the unit that was sent to the border. Their blood spilled as most of the men were torn to pieces with the attacks.

Tengoku looked on silently. The smell of blood dusted his nose as he looked on at her. Objectively it was an awful and horrific scene.

Close to one hundred men were probably wiped out within a few minutes. To any normal person they'd make some excuse to flee or retreat, but Tengoku was pleased with what he saw. It felt as if something sick was crawling out of his skin slightly. Was there something wrong for developing feelings or attraction for someone like this? Was it even wrong to be friends with someone like this? He questioned himself, but he couldn't help but move closer. Perhaps it was the innate warrior in her that intrigued him more than who she actually was to an extent.

"So…had your fun?"

He looked down at the bodies, stripping one of the corpses of their hat, analyzing the symbol. Yuki holstered her pistols and smiled, putting up a peace sign.

"Of course, it's the best way to have fun Tengoku. You wouldn't understand… usually I go in stealth but this gave you a taste of the brute force I have…"

"I come from a family who does this for a living. I do understand…but I also don't. That's not what stimulates me or makes me have fun."

"Oh but it's great for me… it's such a thrill it really makes my blood jump. You know, they keep me inside for that reason but I always found a way to escape. Since I was a kid I had some violent tendencies, if you ever met my parents they would probably tell you all about it, usually I get what I want no matter what."

"Meet your parents? I'm probably bound to. They'll probably be at the exams. I'm not sure if i'm excited for that though…but they seem nice."

"No they're nice, but I get what I have from somewhere, and honestly from what I've heard it's a mix of both of them… so yeah I guess take what you will from that."

"My problem is that you ultimately view it as some kind of disease. I think that's what's drawing me to become closer to you. I don't want you to view it as that..maybe I have some kind of savior complex..even in the most ridiculous sense. I never said i'd change you…I said save…but if this is who you want to be I can't stop you. I can only be here for you by your side."

"If that's what you want, then that's fine. But don't be a scaredy cat when I drag you to hell and back…"

"Maybe I want to taste what that would be like…Maybe i'm just as sick as you say you are…Maybe we're the same."

"Nah I don't believe you are on my level… however, you could get there. I do it for the thrill, the money, and the establishment…"

"I don't think it's a competition.."

He chuckled at the cold response.

"I didn't say I was. I just said we're the same. If two apples grow on a tree then they're not the same just because they're both apples, or they both come from the same origin point."

"We are not apples tengoku. You are an apple and I'm a mango. Two completely different fruits just as sweet as each other."

"How do you know that? Do you think you can just look into my eyes and completely understand me? I haven't told you much about myself..You've told me more. I think i'm more correct right now than you are."

"I can sense it in you. Your aura and your personality… it's not something I really desire even though it was pretty interesting last night. I don't think you could ever handle me even if you wanted too."

"What I display to everyone feels like it's simply a facade. It's like putting on a costume every morning, a layer of skin that is just thick enough to get me by society. You can't sense anything in me because there is nothing beyond that except carnal desire for what I deserve. Your senses have surely fooled you. There is no aura, there is no personality."

"Then you are simply not a person and I don't desire that. I would rather be around someone that is something than around someone that is quite literally nothing to themself or others. Maybe you have some changing to do…"

"I think it's you who has to change. That's what we all are. You simply reaffirmed my beliefs. You exist as that bloodlust..I exist for my dream."

He tilted his head at her.

"So what? Then you want me to leave?"

"No of course not. I want you to change that's all. I still show who I really am to everyone and even you said that. You shouldn't hide yourself from the world because it will only hold you back."

"There's nothing to hide. There isn't anything to be embarrassed of. I exist as it as it exists within me."

"A fair chat. A fair one indeed." Somebody stepped around the corpses, the blood from her shoe prints following behind her. The atmosphere immediately changed, almost as if this being wasn't even one that was born on this earth, one that was simply inhabiting it because she felt that was the right thing to do.

Her blonde hair blew with the wind, Her crimson eyes almost made a magnetic sound, as if her eyes were drawing the two to look at her. She looked on silently.

"Allow me to make those changes you speak of now. I'll admit when I heard my entire eastern brigade was wiped out I was ready to meet the king himself. Yet..I am met with two children talking about things they don't understand. Feelings they can't comprehend. Beings who don't have a semblance of humanity because they couldn't fathom what it actually is. What a shame.."
