Chapter 22 - fatal mistake

Brihan entered Farid's room and saw him sitting, flipping through the pages of a book, understanding none of the words and only looking at the illustrations.

"Give me that. [Brihan snatched the book from him and continued] Reading something you don't understand is very dangerous. You don't have enough mental immunity for reading."

"Then let one of you read it to me?!"

"I'm not good at reading either. Only Lusihar is good at it, and she's gone to sleep now. She ordered me, Brihan Gwathelina Vasari III, to monitor you."

"Am I a child to be monitored?"

"Yes, Sir, you are free and a conscious person. If you don't want me to monitor you, I won't. You're not a child, are you?"

"No, I am not a child."

"You know what needs to be done as a newcomer, meaning: Do not wander the palace alone. Do not stare into corners for long. Do not sleep next to an empty chair. Flip the chairs before you sleep."

"Yes, I remember Lusihar told me these pieces of advice."

"I'm sorry, Sir, but I have work to do organizing the warehouse. Just stick to the advice."

"Umm, alright."

Brihan left the room and went to read the book she took from Farid in her own room.

< What a strange one. [He took delta sigma's hand] I'm sorry. I stood there watching and did nothing. >

Night came. Farid ate dinner, and Miral took him to his room, where he made sure to lock the doors and sat there on the bed, staring at the lights of the big city of Madalena.

"It's boring. Are they bored of me? Why did Brihan feel like she hates me? I feel like they're hiding something. Even delta sigma didn't teach me how to read and write. I wonder why...

I don't feel sleepy despite the long day. Should I do some exercises?"

Farid started doing some physical exercises to pass the time, but time was moving very slowly. He looked out the window and saw Brihan stretching her body outside. He took his shoe and threw it at her, hitting her head. She showed no reaction. She turned slowly. Her eyes were wide open, but everything else was normal.

"Come up."

A smile spread across her face, and she said:

"I'm coming."

She rushed indoors at full speed. Farid heard the loud sound of her footsteps ascending the stairs in a way that made his heart pound heavily.

The sound of her running increased. Farid was terrified by the strange noise and opened the window in case he needed to call for help. On the last stairs, the sound of her footsteps was like machine gun fire. Farid covered his ears, and suddenly he saw her shadow under the door. Everything went silent for two seconds.

Knock, knock

"Sir, may I enter? Please open the door."

"O-O-Okay."

Farid opened the door. It was just Brihan. She stared at him, frozen in place for ten seconds, then a smile formed that made Farid shiver.

"I'm sorry.

[She entered the room and closed the windows]

You must be bored."

"I... y-y-yes."

Brihan stared at him, and her cheeks flushed.

"I often saw you, Sir, staring at my body. I wonder what you were imagining."

"W-Who, me? No."

"You were thinking about why I hate you. Come on, admit it."

"How did you know?"

"It's my technique, and my garment now... [She lowered her black underwear out of her skirt and pulled out one leg after the other]... doesn't hide what is burning beneath it. Only your shyness prevents us from pleasure. Come on, my dear, there's no need for shyness anymore."

Brihan approached Farid, who began to retreat but then stopped and let her approach. She touched his face, and his heart leaped with joy. She moved her right hand downwards until she almost touched his manhood and then stopped.

"Damn it, how foolish of me. I forgot the door was open. [She grabbed Farid's hand and pulled him outside and continued] Everyone is asleep. Come on, let's do it under the stairs, haha."

She and Farid, ecstatic and oblivious with excitement, ran. They reached the door. Brihan stopped briefly to adjust her shoe that her foot had slipped out of. Farid, in a hurry, grabbed the door himself and closed it.

"Thank you... Where do you want it? Here... the place is exposed here, or... What do you think of that room with the red door? The red color is romantic."

< I haven't seen that room before. >

"Let's go."

Brihan held his hand and opened the door to a dark room with a crimson grass floor and pulled him inside. The real Brihan spoke with a surprised voice:

"Sir, what are you doing outside your room?"

The door disappeared when he saw it, like the loud slam of a wooden door that woke everyone in the palace.

Any part that entered that door was destroyed. Farid's arm, his right leg, and part of his chest were exploded, exposing his lung, a portion of which was severed, in addition to part of his head, exposing his brain.

Farid instantly lost consciousness from the shock, drowning in his own blood.

In a fraction of a second, Lusihar arrived, followed by all the servants.

Brihan stood there staring at him, then turned to Lusihar.

"He said he didn't want me to guard him."

Anger ignited in Lusihar's eyes, and she lunged to choke her:

"Believe me, Saleen, you don't want that."

Lusihar stopped and released her. Brihan stood up, coughing, and Lusihar ordered her to follow and instructed the others to take Farid to the treatment room.

They went outside, and Lusihar spoke in a low voice:

"How did you know that name?"

"With all your sanity, you expect the Global Alliance for Paranormal Studies to leave an existential threat like Farid unguarded, you drug dealer? Repeat this mistake with me, and we will make everyone here sign out of life."

"Where is the real Brihan?"

"I am her... all along, and you are free because we want that, so don't be conceited and think you are smarter than the law, and that your sick, sadistic crimes will be forgiven just because you decided to change now. Each of us has a secret. Watch yourself."

Brihan returned inside Lusihar. Lusihar stood there, staring at the colored, planet-sized moons and taking a deep breath. Then her features changed to anger, then irritation as she remembered her past, and then she took a deep breath.

< I am trying to change. Nothing happened. I donated all my property to the poor and needy. Nothing happened. I am a good person. I-I-I didn't want to kill her, just knock her unconscious. That's right. >

Inside, the maids were running to stop the bleeding, and Farid was barely alive. Brihan was standing there staring. Lusihar went towards the room where delta sigma was, then slapped her with a bucket of cold water to wake delta sigma up startled. Lusihar held her despite her resistance.

"Where a-a-are you taking me?"

"Farid is about to die, although the Ninth in the prophecy won't die because of this."

delta sigma arrived and saw Farid's condition, wrapped in medical bandages amidst a pool of blood, with almost half of his right side missing.

"W-W-What h-h-happened?!"

"He violated the night containment because there was no one to watch him, all so you wouldn't get angry again like yesterday, and he closed an extra door on himself. Luckily for him, he didn't enter completely."

Some of delta sigma's flesh transferred and began forming new organs and repairing the damage, changing color to match Farid's skin, but he remained unconscious.

The following day...

Farid woke up startled, looking at his right hand.

"It was just a dream."

"No, it wasn't, kid."

Farid looked at the window, the source of the voice, to find Brihan entering from there.

"I-I-I am your master! How dare you call me a kid?!"

"My words bothered you? I'm telling you you're a kid. If you were an adult, you wouldn't care about people's opinions."

"Well, guess what? You're fired."

"If I don't work here, you'll be imprisoned. So just shut up, kid."

"Who will arrest me?"

Lusihar entered:

"We have to listen to her words."

"No, no, continue what you are doing. Pretend I don't exist, hehe"

"Good news! This is your last night, Farid, where this happens. Now you can wander the palace at your leisure. The only advice... Oh, you know what? I don't want to hint at something and have it become a cognitive danger and manifest through a Chekhov effect like the previous time, which means I will continue to monitor you. Do you have a comment, delta sigma?

[delta sigma entered, and Lusihar pulled her further inside and embraced her with her right hand and continued]

We are friends now, as you can see, heheh.

Why did you come out?"

"I saw what I think was an illusion."

Farid looked at Brihan, who smiled.

"What? My ability has to do with lightning. Lusihar is the one with the number six, and her ability is unnatural, which is illusion."

"I was asleep. I have nothing to do with it..."

"Yes, you do..."

< Should I throw myself out the window? These people are mocking me with cryptic words and playing with me on the verge of death, and I can't escape. [Behind Brihan, Lusihar, and delta sigma, who was distracted and staring into nothingness, Farid saw that terrifying face he had seen before in a previous attack] Damn it. >

The sensation of the attack overwhelmed him, and his body contracted, convulsing in place until he was lifted from the bed.

Lusihar looked at delta sigma's depressed face, who raised her hands to the sides as an implicit sign that she couldn't do anything. Lusihar took a glass and spat into it.

"Yuck! Are you really going to make him drink that?

[Lusihar looked at her sideways]

Just hurry up. I'm not looking. I'm not a cuckold like delta sigma."

Lusihar lost her temper and screamed:

"Get out!"

Brihan left, but at the turn, she kept peering out, and Lusihar was still looking at her until she gave up and left.

Farid drank the yuck, and after some time, he woke up. Calmly, he got up from his spot, headed to the window, and threw himself headfirst from the third floor, hitting the ground in the hope that his brain would scatter and this suffering would end.

Lusihar looked out the window in surprise. Farid fell, but the soft, fertile soil cushioned his fall. Lusihar, holding back a smile:

"Are you alright?"

Farid got up and started punching and kicking the ground, losing his temper and tearing his clothes, with Miral next to him pretending not to look, cutting the grass with a tense, indifferent face, holding back a laugh.

Lusihar looked at delta sigma and said with a smile:

"He is on the verge of madness. If you have a solution, help us. Two days ago, I heard you tell him in the meadow that you had one. Why don't you speak? Don't tell me you are shocked by my attack. You can adjust your memories and mind and forget it. Or is your silence a protest that I am stronger than you?"

Then she started pinching her cheeks.

"Get away from me. Come on, let's go get him."

"Why didn't you bring him with you?"

Lusihar descended to the ground floor, smiling:

"Ahemm.. delta sigma has the solution for your hallucinations. Pack your bags and get ready for an adventure."
