Camilla's voice sliced through the suffocating atmosphere between Tom and me with surgical precision.
"And what business is it of yours?" Her tone remained controlled, but beneath that composure lurked something lethal. The kind of quiet fury that preceded devastation.
Tom whipped around to face her, his entire focus shifting like a predator suddenly aware of new prey.
I remained motionless, my jaw locked tight, arms crossed defensively over my chest. The room felt electric, as if the wrong syllable might trigger an explosion that would consume us all.
"You have a wife now," Camilla continued, advancing with measured steps, her gaze unwavering and razor-sharp. "You're living exactly the life you chose with Delia, raising your child together. So explain to me why my choices, or his involvement in my life, should matter to you in the slightest."
Each word landed like a perfectly aimed strike. I fought back a grin because she had hit the target dead center.
