"Perhaps we should return to the living room," Camilla suggested, her words cutting through the quiet tension that had settled between us. Her voice drew me back from my wandering thoughts, anchoring me to the present moment. I nodded briefly and gestured for her to lead the way, though Elsie was already in motion, her small feet creating soft sounds against the floor as she walked ahead of both of us. Camilla moved to follow our daughter, while I remained behind them, my eyes shifting between their figures. Something about seeing them together like this awakened feelings in me that I struggled to define.
