The underground hall was far more spacious than the ear chamber they'd first passed through—easily half the size of a football field.

Three massive corridors branched out from it, stretching into the left, the front, and the right. Each of them ran so far into the darkness that no one could tell where they might lead.

The moment the group stepped inside, everyone's first instinct was to look up—

The lights were on.

Creek City's air-raid shelter had been built more than sixty years ago. It was almost never used, mostly functioning as a storage site for emergency supplies. Because of that, the interior was far from modern. The bulbs overhead were old, their bases loose, as if they hadn't been checked in decades.

A draft blew through, and the wire holding one bulb swayed lightly. The old bulb flickered with an eerie, murky orange glow—like something out of a horror movie.

"What the hell—?"
