Chapter 5 - chapter 5

Camila stood frozen, her cheek burning from Jack's slap. She couldn't understand what was happening. Why was Jack suddenly furious? Why did he pull away the moment that bulky woman appeared?

But Jack knew. Oh, he knew all too well.

The bulky woman was Ms. Jane—daughter of one of the most powerful investment firm owners in the country.

Only child.

Heir to billions.

Jack's father had been begging her father for years to invest in their empire. Their entire company depended on that funding to avoid bankruptcy.

And to seal the deal, Jack's family had proposed an engagement between Jack and Ms. Jane.

If Ms. Jane believed Jack was spending money on a random woman…

If she suspected he was maintaining a mistress…

If she told her father he was unreliable…

Her family would pull out everything.

Jack's father's company would collapse overnight.

Ms. Jane understood exactly what she saw. The jewelry bags, Camila holding Jack's arm, the affection in Camila's eyes… everything.

But she was too controlled to explode in public. She simply turned around and walked out of the jewelry shop, her expression cold as winter.

Jack panicked.

He bolted after her, ignoring Camila entirely.

Camila also ran behind them, confused and terrified.

The three disappeared from the shop, leaving behind only the echo of drama.

Jay and Sonia exchanged a look.

Silence.

Neither knew what to say about the chaos they'd just witnessed.

Jay shrugged. "Let's continue shopping."

And they did.

Store after store. Bags, shoes, perfumes, accessories. Jay spent a total of ₹1 million, and each time—

> [Cashback: ₹2 million credited]

Eventually, he checked Sonia's stats.

> [Name: Sonia]

[Age: 21]

[Beauty: 86]

[Affection: 40]

Jay blinked.

Forty? Already?

He hadn't expected her affection to rise so fast. But he didn't think too deeply.

He was only testing the system. Nothing more.

At last, they stepped out of the mall. Sonia's hands were loaded with luxury bags—designer brands stacked on her arms like trophies.

She looked back at Jay with a soft, almost shy expression. "You didn't buy anything for yourself."

Jay smiled faintly. "I don't need anything."

Sonia's heart skipped.

In her mind, Jay wasn't a poor civil servant anymore. No—he was clearly a rich second-generation heir who secretly lived a simple life. A man who enjoyed spending money low-key. A man who treated her like a princess.

She felt like she had hit the jackpot.

If I become his girlfriend, she thought, my life will be perfect. No stress, no problems. Just luxury and comfort forever.

If Jay could hear her thoughts, he would have laughed.

Girlfriend?

He only came with her to test the system.

Once he left… he wasn't planning to see her again.

Jay nodded once. "Thank you for keeping me company, Sonia. I feel better now. I'll get going."

Sonia's heart panicked.

If she let him leave without anchoring something, she might lose this golden chance forever.

"W-wait!" she blurted. "Can you… give me your number?"

She looked up at him with hopeful eyes, clutching her shopping bags like treasures, terrified he might refuse.
