Chapter 22 - A Sweet Burden

The weather was truly freezing, especially since Saphen was only wearing a dress shirt and slacks. He had rejected Cain without hesitation, yet his body still trembled honestly from the cold.

Saphen almost immediately retreated to his room. When he stepped out again, he wore a large warm coat and held a notebook in his hand.

Meanwhile, Cain was quietly taking in the sight of the house that had always appeared in his dreams.

Everything looked exactly the same, yet also different. The indoor slippers had been replaced, the matching couple mugs had vanished, as if he had never existed in this place at all.

Realizing this made Cain furrow his brows.

Instinctively, he glanced at Saphen and casually said, "My things…"

Flipping through the notebook, Saphen didn't even bother to look up. He responded flatly, "Anything that could be sold was sold. Anything that couldn't was tossed."

By now, Cain had no choice but to accept it. Whether he wanted to or not.
