Chapter 6 - Chapter 5: Hospital

They have gone from hospital to hospital all morning. Lily is tired but says nothing. Mir had come to her shortly after she had arrived saying there might be a chance that the murder victim might have survived. Lily was scared at first until Mir explained that there was not enough blood on the knife or the surrounding area to suggest that the knife had hit anything vital.

Lily asked if there was any possibility of figuring out who was the victim. Mir only shrugged, saying that at the current time it was impossible to tell. Lily wasn't sure whether to be relieved or scared. She wasn't worried about them being able to find anything from hospital records. She had only ever got vaccines, that's all. She healed so fast that she never had to go to the hospital. She also never gave blood for obvious reasons. Yes, she could help a lot of people, but at what price? Slavery? Being a guinea pig? Being killed by other beings like her? Then again people have already tried the last one, multiple times.

Lily sighs as they arrive at the next hospital, Bellevue Hospital. It was one of the few old buildings left after the Rising Sun project that took place in New York during Lily's college years. A lot changed between when she turned 18 to when she had turned 23, with the constant natural disasters that plagued the world. She had a ton of growing up to do, on top of that, but who doesn't at that age?

As they walk into the crowded building, something feels off to Lily, but she guesses it has to do with being in such an old building for the first time. It is the same as the old Tweed Courthouse. She shakes her head and focuses on the job at hand.

While Lily checks with the front desk, Mir heads to the Emergency Surgery department. She asks the ES doctor at that desk for all the names of stab wounds, both SN and NH. Supernatural, and Normal humans.

The nurse who is at the desk happens to be one of the many healing witches in the department and is able to get her the names quickly. Lily caught up with her soon after.

"Do you think that the persons that the bullets belong to might be here? There were no gunshot victims at the other two hospitals." Lily asks, looking around the room as patients come in and out.

Mir is surprised about this. She has been so focused on finding the injured victim, that she has completely forgotten about the injured assailant. Mir smacks herself in the head before heading back to the desk. She didn't notice Lily walking off.

Lily looks around in the healing area, trying to get away from something. She has a strange sense that told her something is up, but she couldn't put her finger on it. It is like a part of her wanted to get away from something, while another part was leading her somewhere. As she walks through the halls of the hospital, it fades into the back of her mind. Lily soon finds that she is totally lost.

Around this time, Mir finally realizes that her friend has gone missing and sighs. That girl could never stay still, and ended up wandering off. Which happens a lot on the job. It was why Mir gave her the transcript from the books she wrote in high school to read. It wasn't like Mir was going to publish them or anything. It is just something fun they could both work on together since they were no longer in the same division. Yes, she is thankful for Camila's help in bringing her back from the dead after she died in the car crash, but did Mir have to work in the Supernatural Investigations deviation? Yay, she grew up with the knowledge of supernatural beings, as it is allowed where she was raised, but she was only turned into one recently. It is still weird to wake up not breathing in the morning and actively having to think about it.

She is getting off track, she has to find her friend before Lily finds herself walking into the magical wall between the Supernatural and human parts of the hospital. It wouldn't be the first time it happened to an agent, and Mir really didn't want her friend's memory to be erased.

Lily, on the other hand, had found herself following the strange feeling from earlier, hoping it would help her find her way. She came to the kid's part of the emergency room. She looks at the name on the door.

Name: Dawn Raymond

Age: 13 years

Doctor: Mr. Dolion

Docnosis: Comatose, caused by congenital heart disease. It has caused the heart to grow slower than the rest of the body and is now unable to keep up with the rest of her growth. Expected death is inevitable by the age of fifteen.

Lily walks over to the seat beside the small girl's bed. She wishes she could help Dawn, but even trying to heal the girl's wounds is dangerous. If she wasn't already comatose, she would be if Lily intervened. The heart and the brain were the most dangerous and most painful to heal. Dawn could be comatose for the rest of her life if she tries.

Lily couldn't stop the feeling that she at least should try. She looks around before cutting her hand with her nails. It didn't heal instantly, but that is the point. Lily moves Dawn's short black hair out of the young lady's eyes, and watches as her blood drips onto her skin then disappears. Lily is surprised when Dawn doesn't react in pain. She watched as color returned to the skin and her breathing came to a normal level, yet the girl didn't shiver in pain like others did. The girl is still in pain, if the slightly squinted eyes and uncomfortable grimace is anything to go by, but it is nowhere near how bad it should be.

Lily watches as the girl starts to wake up, as if from a bad dream. Lily smiles kindly as the girl opens her eyes ever so slightly. "Morning sweety, do you need anything, water?" Lily asked. The girl eagerly nodded. Lily is only gone a secant before returning to the girls side. She helped Dawn into a sitting position, before handing her the water. The girl drinks it slowly, then smiles back at her.

"Who are you? Do you...know where my...big brother is?" The girl asks slowly. Running out of breath every few words.

"I'm Lily, Lily Grey. No, I don't know where your brother is. I noticed you waking up and came to check on you. I was surprised because the docnoses said you were comatosed because of a heart disease." Lily said with a questioning smile. "Do you want me to get the doctor?"

Dawn shook her head. "He's scary, I want my big brother." She pouts and Lily smiles.

"I can see what I can do, little protector of hope." The girl looks confused, so Lily explains, "Dawn represents hope, and Ramond means protector. Put the two together and you got the protector of hope," she explained. Dawn smiled brightly at her, Lily is overjoyed that she can help the girl, though the girl's reaction to her blood still lingered in the back of her mind.

"So this is where you wandered off to. No wonder I couldn't find you." Mir saiys from the door. "How in hell did you get all the way to the other side of the hospital without anyone noticing?"

"I have no clue myself. Then again I am slightly directionally challenged when it comes to new places. If I wasn't here though, then Dawn here would have woken from her coma alone," Lily shrugged. "Did you find anything?"

"Nothing on the girl we are looking for, but there are three guys that matched the other person we are looking for," Mir says then turns to the girl. "Sorry little one, but I am going to have to take your new friend away from you."

"I want Alex, I want my big brother." Dawn pouts and Lily is slightly surprised at the name. Then again this is New York there was bound to be thousands of guys named Alex. Lily shakes her head and turns to Dawn.

"Kindhearted protector, your parents are either really good at names, or extremely lucky." That makes her laugh and Mir confused. "I will tell you later Mir, right now we need to see about those suspects." 'I hope for my sake none of them are who I think they are.' Lily thinks. 'I am having enough problems by still being in New York City in the first place.'
