I remember Delilah's words like a knife twisting in my chest.
"You will never be able to please Azrael. Even when he becomes your husband in three nights, he won't respect your vows because you're nothing."
"If you think I'm lying, just watch your husband-to-be crawl into my bed on your wedding night."
The memory ignites a fire in me, a rage I can't contain. My hands clench into fists. My teeth grit. Before I even realize it, my legs are moving on their own, carrying me across the room.
I storm toward the bed and grab Delilah by her hair, yanking her backward with all my strength. She lets out a sharp cry of pain as she falls off the bed.
She staggers to her feet, trying to grab me but I don't let her.
"Let me go!" she screams, but I don't release her.
