Chapter 154 - Agent Spy, Monster Enters

Natasha subtly gripped her weapon, crouching in the corner as she shouted towards the outside.

"Hey, this is just a waste of time. Maybe we can talk. We might find a way to resolve this."

"You want to resolve this?" A hoarse, seductive voice responded from not far away. "I have no objections, as long as you hand over the Little Girl beside you."

"That's not possible, I need to protect this child's safety," Natasha replied loudly. "Or, you hand over the information in your possession, and we each go our own way. Wouldn't that be great?"

"You're making things difficult for me. I can't sense any sincerity in your desire to resolve this. You should know, you're at a disadvantage right now."

"Put down your sniper rifle, and then we can discuss who's at an advantage, okay?" Natasha rolled her eyes, her tone dripping with sarcasm. If it weren't for the sniper rifle aimed at her, she would have already slipped away with the child.

"Of course, as long as you take off that strange outfit. Who do you work for? High-level equipment like that isn't common." The Spy shared similar thoughts with Natasha. She had already shot twice, and each time, the magical uniform had blocked the damage. This made her feel hurt inside; she even suspected if the sniper rifle in her hand was a fake, or if someone had tampered with it.

"Alright, I see. You don't seem to have any sincerity in resolving this. So, let's both take a step back, how about that!" Giving up on further verbal sparring, Natasha pressed against the wall. She surveyed her surroundings, paying close attention to the signs hanging on the outpatient clinic.

"Go on, I'm listening." The Spy didn't know what Natasha was plotting, so she cautiously asked.

"It's simple, let's settle this with some simple methods, without risking our lives. For example! Oh, damn it!" Natasha said, then suddenly pulled the terrified and dazed Little Girl beside her and rolled to the side.

At this moment, there was a loud boom, and a huge arm suddenly tore through the thick concrete and steel bars, breaking up from the floor below. The claws alone on that arm were about the size of an adult's thigh. There was also a huge, hideous eye on the arm, which was scanning around randomly. When it saw the girl in Natasha's arms, a terrifying howl came from below.

Then came even more violent and rapid rumbling sounds, each one making Natasha feel the floor beneath her feet tremble. This made her certain that the owner of the arm must be frantically digging through the floor. Maybe it wouldn't be long before they could meet.

But Natasha had no intention of meeting him. At this moment, she didn't care about the Spy's sniping anymore, she raised her arms to protect her head, while doing her best to shield the girl beside her, and quickly ran towards the emergency exit at the end of the corridor.

The commotion behind her was getting bigger and bigger; there was no need to think to know that it was the Monster's furious rage. She had seen the Monster's terror and knew what it was looking for. It was a sad thing for a former scientist to become what it was now, but no matter how sad it was, she couldn't let go of the child in her arms.

This child was a very crucial presence. At least that's what the information she had received showed. The Monster's relentless pursuit of her stemmed from its own terrifying instincts; it needed this child to propagate the virus in its body. And Natasha, who understood all this, naturally wouldn't let this happen.

The T-Virus was terrifying enough; there was no need to let the G-Virus run rampant in this world as well. So, both publicly and privately, she had to protect this child.

Gunshots rang out again, and Natasha had subconsciously prepared to endure the pain. But she didn't feel anything being hit. She didn't believe that the Spy would miss; the previous encounter had proved that she was a difficult opponent, and her accurate shots had given her a lot of trouble.

The painful roar coming from behind also proved her guess; the target wasn't her, but the Monster behind.

The mysterious Spy across from her seemed to have the same goal. Both were gathering information about the virus while also weakening Umbrella's power. And now, she had made the same decision as Natasha: they absolutely could not let the Monster get the Little Girl.

The sniper's bullet hit the base of the Monster's arm, striking the huge eye – a glaring weak point. The Spy had taken a gamble, and it seemed her luck was good.

The instant the giant eye was injured, the Monster went into a frenzy. Even though half its body was still on the floor below, that didn't stop it from causing massive destruction. With a swipe of its huge claws, countless bricks and concrete were sent flying. These things were like tofu in front of that massive arm.

Its other arm, though much smaller than the giant one, was still monstrous. A light grab was enough to tear deep marks into the walls, and even things made of metal were easily crushed into strange shapes.

With the two arms alternating, the frenzied Monster broke free from the floor, tearing itself from the concrete and steel.

The moment it was free, the Monster didn't immediately chase after Natasha and the others. Instead, it used its strong, frog-like hind legs to leap forward, while its thick tail pushed off. It lunged towards the balcony on the opposite side of the floor.

Its ferocious, violent posture was like a wild beast, but no beast in the world could compare to this Monster. Consumed by rage, the Monster didn't even think about why it had followed them here. All it wanted now was to tear apart the people who had hurt it.

From this perspective, it was no longer the brilliant doctor, but a true Monster. Reason had completely vanished from its brain.

The enormous body arced through the air in an almost exaggerated curve, landing on the top-floor balcony. The heavy body collapsed the balcony floor the instant it touched down, and the concrete beneath its feet was crushed to powder. But this didn't satisfy the rage within it, because its target was no longer there.

Besides a twisted and deformed firearm, there was no one on the balcony. Only an empty rope remained, connected to the edge of the balcony.

The Monster roared angrily, its huge claws swiping violently, tearing the concrete at the edge to shreds. The taut rope immediately went limp, as if its bones had been removed, but it only made a slight sound as it fell.

The clever Spy was no longer on the rope; like a phantom in the darkness, she had vanished into the endless night.

The Monster stared fixedly at the heavy night. It hesitated for a moment, but finally gave up its vengeful actions. Instincts repeatedly assailed its thoughts, causing it to turn its gaze once again in the direction Natasha and the others had fled.

That Little Girl was the most important thing to it. The instincts of the virus drove it, making it willing to do anything to get her.

So it howled, its huge body leaping across the balconies, rushing towards Natasha's direction.

And after it left, a dashing, short-haired woman quietly peeked out from a corner.

"William Birkin has turned into this kind of monster, what a disastrous change. It's probably best to abandon this mission."

Even though she was complaining, she still followed behind the monster that was once Dr. William Birkin. Giving up halfway wasn't her style, especially when the reward was generous.

Natasha was still desperately running, the monster's howls getting closer, which meant that Dr. William could sense their location and was coming after them.

Now, not only did she have to worry about the huge threat behind her, but she also had to struggle to avoid the swarms of zombies in front of her. For Natasha, this was already beyond her capabilities.

As an elite among the spies, she was confident in her ability to compete with her counterparts from any country in the world and steal all kinds of secrets. But dealing with this monster was enough to make her feel inadequate.

After all, she was still human, not some kind of superhero. Perhaps among humans, her skills were among the best. But when it came to fighting monsters, she didn't have that much confidence. She didn't think that concrete would be any more fragile than her body.

So at this moment, she decisively took her last resort.

"Zhou Yi, I need your help, right now, immediately, right now!" Repeating important information three times, even if the nouns were different, fully demonstrated how urgent her current situation was.

Soon, a response came from Zhou Yi through the communication device.

"Where are you? I'm coming right away."

"North of Central Hospital. I'm being chased by a Monster. Hurry, I can't hold on much longer."

As soon as she finished speaking, a gust of wind howled behind her. Natasha instinctively lowered her body, holding the child close. A huge shadow had already passed over her head.

It was a dilapidated car, still on fire. It rolled and landed in front of Natasha, then, ignited by sparks from an unknown part, it exploded with a loud bang. The raging flames immediately engulfed everything around, naturally blocking Natasha's path.

Natasha immediately turned around, trying to find another way, and saw that the Monster that had been chasing her was walking towards her step by step from the darkness. A few Zombies, driven by instinct, lunged towards it, but were turned into tattered corpses with a swing of its huge arm.

And it didn't even look at these creatures, which could barely be considered its kind. Its large eyes, which had recovered, were staring at Natasha and the child in her arms, bringing her immense pressure.

Natasha retreated step by step, while the Monster approached step by step. Soon, she had nowhere to retreat. All she could do now was pray, pray that Zhou Yi could arrive immediately.
