Chapter 5 - The Failed Author (Finale)

The few people that were in the room with Kuro and a sleeping Niyah had sat in silence to ponder the entire situation regarding Kuro's book of authority. The silence was thick, and the tension was almost as easy to cut like butter.

"Kuro. Do you understand what type of power you possess? This is literally unfathomable. Our lives are in the palm of your hands. This could cause a galactic catastrophe."

An older man proclaimed with a serious expression, his browns eyes narrowed at the ultrarealistic book that sat on the table. Its mere presence exuding a phantom hue of a deep blue color. It held so much untold power, whispers of lost souls trapped between reality had breached the borders of conscious and the subconscious.

"ꫝꫀꪶρ...ꪊᦓ..."

Distorted sounds almost inaudible to the human ear had reached the older man's mind. His head pounding repeatedly like a thick stick against a drum. He clutched his head in agonizing pain, teeth grinding against each other as he fell to the ground, wriggling in pain.

Suddenly, he stood up in daze. His arms limp, hanging low to his side and his legs slightly bent, giving him a weird possessed-like posture. Kuro looked on in confusion and the other two guest observed with caution, waiting for the man to behave strangely.

"Uhh. You good bro?"

Kuro asked with a comedic sweat drop, yet the man remained silent. Then the man rushed towards the book on the table in an attempt to acquire its power. Kuro sighed in disappointment, realizing the man had succumbed to the overwhelming power gathered from the previous wielder.

"Whoever created this book must be beyond our imagination. Anyways, don't worry guys it's just an effect the book has to weak willed people."

Kuro explained much to the subtle relief of the others, noticing that Kuro wasn't in panic which meant the issue was of minor concern. The older male eventually reached out to the book and grasped it, though when he attempted to open it, he was turned to nothing but dust. His ashes now drifting away into the wind, scattering across the world.

"Oh Yeah, that happens. It's like a defense mechanism against anything that isn't me"

Kuro explained with his pointer finger against his cheek and his head leaning into said finger, giving the expression that he simply forgot such an important aspect.

The remaining guest had simply remained silent in shock, deciding that trying to be aggressive to a reality shifter could lead to disastrous results.

"I see. So, what do you plan on doing with this power Kuro?"

Another older man asked in a question that attacked Kuro's morality and maturity. This man adorned white hair that matched the color of snow, it was soft and hung low, down to the back of the neck. Few strands of loose hair hung as makeshift bangs, filtering the light that revealed his crimson-colored eyes in a radiant glow.

His eyes were fierce as a tiger, an aura of an apex predator lurking within the confinements of the space. Though Kuro and this man matched presence, Kuro's was like a raging wave whilst this man presence seemed more refined like a stable river. Lethal.

"Honestly, to think I actually have this much power in my hand. I don't know."

Kuro exclaimed in an honest tone. Ever since the discovery of the book's true potential, Kuro took time to reflect even while during his battle against the demon queen of destruction. This led to his next statement.

"What I do know is that I want to protect myself and I will do so by any means"

Kuro proclaimed in a cold tone that solidified his statement, knowing that he would truly rewrite reality itself if it meant he lived. It wasn't selfish but self-preservation, yet those around him pondered on if it was nearing the realm of evil. By any means. A world that held weigh beyond measure. A threat to preserve oneself.

"I understand. If that's the case, I, Muryo Nuri, head of the Nuri family, declare our treaty hereby null."

The now mentioned Muryo proclaimed, standing up in a subtly swift manner that made everyone turn their head towards him in shock. Kuro on the other hand, stood with a mask of indifference though internally his mind was running a thousand miles a minute to figure out a solution.

Kuro knew if he became even a little aggressive towards the treaty to stay, he would be seen as a fear monger. This left him with few choices and so Kuro had chosen.

"Very well. Then from here on out, the Nasaki family will stop supplying the Nuri with various enhancement crystals. Please look for another partner for that aspect now."

Kuro replied to Muryo's resignation of the treaty. This left Muryo stunned a bit, but he recovered and simply walked away, exiting the room and never to be seen for now. Now, Kuro turned his attention to the last guest in the room who seemed visibly nervous.

"Ura Kinoka. I'll leave you to Niyah."

Kuro proclaimed in finality as he stood up, which made the aforementioned Ura to stand up as well in a subtle panic. Kuro sighed at her behavior, though he knew it was his newly established reputation that made her nervous. Afterall, she was standing before a true god.

"No need to be nervous my love. I promise, I don't bite. Not hard at least~"

Kuro exclaimed in a teasing tone which earned a shocked expression from Ura. Now that Kuro had gotten a better look at her, she was truly a beauty amongst beauties. Her skin was fare and supple, her hair as pink as Sakura petal's, reaching down to her slender waist.

Her height seemed to be around 5'4, she adorned a white school uniform skirt that reached just a few inches below her thighs aka the acceptable length before it's considered indecent. Hot pinks eyes stared into gold one's that seemed to read her like an open book, peering into the breaches of her mind.

This nearly left her in a daze, forcing her to break eye contact swiftly and nod her head at his response to her nervousness. Ura only knew of Kuro from the rumors spread across the city after the achievement of soul class, though now that she knew exactly what his soul class was, it shook her to the core. She saw him as a monster beyond human understanding.

'Why do they all look at me with that look'

Kuro asked within his mind, watching as Ura finally left in attendance to whatever she needed to do. Now it was just him and Niyah. A small sigh escaped his lips as he sat down once more, pondering on his decisions of announcing his power to the public.

"Maybe...I'll just make it to where they forgot. Yeah...then I can do what I needed to do in secret."

Kuro exclaimed as he held his right hand over the table, a wavering hue of golden light exuding from his hand and onto the table. Then in moments, a thick book appeared within the golden light.
