Chapter 1 - Ghost Agent

Year 2080, Axiom Pearl. City of evaluation. A place where technology surpassed its own limits. The world is living in a new era. An era of cybernetic warfare and growth. Humans no longer need any pills or meds. A broken arm? Simply modify it. If you're a soldier then install a modified limb for enhancement. If you're an assassin then modify everything you have in your damn body. That has become a bloody motto for everyone nowadays. Axiom Pearl is a heaven for criminals and outlaws. Well at least most of it. There are four capital areas. The south, north, east and west. If you're a criminal you might find your heaven in the south district.

Ever heard of freelance? I bet you all did. It's a very common phrase for this city. But the twist is, people in this city don't freelance for software developing, they do it for everything. From your night partner to a professional hitman. This culture got so vast that at one point it became the only natural earning system for outlaws and criminals. For a year and a half these freelancers were doing everything in front of everyone. After the crime rate went up the government took necessary steps. Search and Exterminate. People who had clean records survived, others who were killers became government prey.

Within a year half of the paid assassins were wiped out by the elite government soldiers. Those who survived crawled backwards to the shadows. After a few days rumours started spreading that a killer organisation called the HEXAGON was created. Their purpose? Join us, work for us, no matter what you do, you are a wingman. From babysitting to professional killers the organisation provided everything. You pay they work. The fact that no one hired them for babysitting and they never meant to do the actual babysitting.

From the shadows they operated. They killed. They protected. They maintained the natural balance amongst the outlaws and the underworld. People started supporting their crazy ideas and concepts of a new world. After years they came in front of the people as an official organisation. They manipulated the public. Either by fear or greed. Their corruption started spreading amongst the government. Which is how they stood tall even after everything. Those who worked for them were called Wingmans. Only those who had special abilities or highly modified skills were called Wingmans. Killers, protectors. Call them whatever you want but deep inside only one person knows what it means. Only one person who decided to break the system.

The city lights are looking beautiful tonight. The smell of after rain feels so fresh. The streets are almost empty. The lights, the vibes were perfect for the event. "Ah! Damn legs." As the man took each step through the stairs the sound of his footsteps became more and more louder. His white hair, smoother than silk. His crimson red eyes gave a glow. The glass window around him. He looks at his own reflection as he takes each step. The blue suit he was wearing had blood stains. He opened a door and got inside the room.

The whole room looked luxurious. Huge bed. A collection of watch. A red and white suit displayed. A guitar. His desk was properly decorated. Laptop, lamp and a revolver placed right in the center. He takes off his suit and throws it on the bed. He looks at his watch, "I still have time left I guess."

He makes his way to his desk and sits quietly. He looks outside of the window while sitting down. The neon light of the city was reflecting in his eyes. His right eye gave a slight purple glow. After a few seconds his right eye turned yellow. A slight smile appeared on his face. "Damn it I might miss this view for a while." His voice was soft. His tone was gentle. He takes another look at his watch and his eyes turned crimson again. He looks at his laptop.

Suddenly he looked at his red suit. He tilted his head and smiled. "I will miss you bitch." He smiles. He stretches his hands towards his revolver. He grabbed it and grips it tighter. He aims it at his laptop. His eyes locked in. His eyes glows up. Within a second he pulled the trigger. The gunshot echoed. The laptop gets scattered. The bullet went right through. Without any second word he exits the room. The broken laptop stays there.

As he was walking down the stairs he looks at his reflection again. As he was walking down he suddenly stopped midway. "15 years huh? You son of a gun." He's talking to his own reflection. His own mind. "Let's go then." He whispered.

East sector. HEXAGON HQ. The building was fifty stories high. The entrance was heavily guarded. A woman was running in the hallway with a tablet on her hand. As she was running everyone was looking at her. She wasn't looking at anyone. She was just running. Her purple hair opened and her tablet fell but she just kept running. She slammed opened a door. As soon as she opened it she was stunned. People were gathered. The round table was full. The higher ups. "I am afraid we lost him." A higher up speaks up. An old man. The woman looked shocked. "You mean he's dead. That's not possible." Her tone was filled with curiosity and fear. Her forehead was sweating. "He's gone rough. A SIRANK." Another old man speaks this time. He had an eye patch and bald head. The woman looked completely shocked. She falls on her knees and looked terrified.

Boom! The apartment blows up. The explosion shocked the whole building. The fire consumed everything. The red suit is burning. The guitar is on fire. The glasses scattered around. The broken laptop is completely melted. The blue suit is burning slowly. Kaito Yashima has gone rough.

The city looks awesome during midnight. The neon lights around gives a nightcore vibe. The people in this city are nocturnal animals. Night time is the best time in this city. The car was moving fast. The wheels looked awesome. The lights reflected on the hood. Mercedes Xg78. The most luxurious car of this era. In the front seat it was none other than Kaito himself. A simple black shirt, sunglasses even though it's night. He was holding the wheel with his one hand with another he was deleting photos in his phone. Photos of him with his ex girlfriend, his colleagues. Suddenly the cool vibe from his face wiped off. It was a picture of him and a woman. The same woman from the HQ. He looked at it for a while. "One last goodbye won't hurt I guess." He deleted the photo.

After a few minutes of driving he finally stopped in front of a hospital. Kaito throws his phone on the backseat and gets off. He takes nothing from his car. He looks at it with a sad look. After a few seconds a slight smile appeared on his face. He takes off his watch and sets a timer on it. As he was setting the timer he looks at his car. "You will always be my favourite ride." After setting it up he throws the watch inside the car and takes his gun. He backed up a little and looked at it for one last time. He turned back and kept on walking. The sound of beeping kept getting louder and louder. "Goodbye" he whispered.

Suddenly the beeping stopped. Everything went silent. He didn't stop walking. Boom! The whole car exploded. The explosion shook the streets. People around panicked. Chaos broke through. Kaito didn't stop walking he walked right inside the hospital while everyone was busy looking at the chaos.

"Call the cops we have a situation here." "Someone call the fire force unit." People started gathering around. A perfect opportunity for breaking in. This hospital is no ordinary hospital. It's a research facility for HEXAGON. Kaito enters the elevator. He is cold as an ice cube. No hesitation no step back. He walked in like a shadow. The elevator stops at the twenty nine floor. As soon as the door opened three armed guards were standing right in front of Kaito. They are heavily armoured and holding cybernetic weapons. "Ohh give me a break." Kaito whispered.

"S Rank Wingman Kaito Yashima. Turn yourself in right now." One of the guards yelled it out loud as if he was going to do it anyway. Kaito didn't move didn't speak a single word. He simply tilted his head. "Or what? Gonna bite." A guard yelled and charged right towards him. Kaito's eyes glowed up. His right eye turned black and his left eye gave a crimson glow. As soon as the guard was about to reach him Kaito vanished from his spot. The guard swings his metal bar around but realised Kaito is gone. He looked behind him and saw the other two guards are on the ground. Their eyes opened. White fuzz like liquid was coming out of their mouth. They were not dead but temporarily paralyzed due to an extreme nerve attack. The guard turned back and Kaito punched him right in his face. The guard immediately fell on the ground and his face was bleeding. Kaito stood tall in front of them. He just took down three A rank wingmans with ease. His combat skills are on a different level. "Damn punks. It's my last day at job I expected a farewell." He walked over their body towards the big entrance. A huge metal door. The main HQ of research and modification unit of HEXAGON. Kaito looked at the CCTV camera and smiles. "Been a long time doctor. How about one last check up?"
