Chapter 3 - Facing a Dragon

Luna and the rest of the team led Lucius into Westeros. When they arrived, Lucius was devastated by his view. He found the land in ruins, devastated by unrelenting monster attacks.

The air was thick with despair as Lucius surveyed the desolation. From what he had recently learnt, this was a once thriving country. But now it laid in ruins, and the landscape bore the scars of countless battles. The people, once hopeful, now hurdled together in makeshift shelters, their faces etched with the hardships of a life overshadowed by fear.

Ginny's sad face moved towards her sister who was standing right next to Lucius. She wrapped her hands together in hopelessness and turned back to the devastating view.

"Sister, can Westeros be rebuilt?" She asked. Luna stared back to her and later to the view.

"Perhaps, child. But unless a miracle happens."

Lucius looked down at his sword fixed within his grip wondering what to say. Luckily for Lucius, Sir Criston came in just in time to relieve him.

"History repeats itself. The last time the entire empire of Westeros fell into this state, we had Lord Lucius Wesley to save us from our doom. This domain is beyond saving, but that doesn't mean all hope is lost. The heavens had showed mercy upon us again by returning you to us. From this moment, we would be your faithful subjects and support whatever decision you take."

Sir Criston and the rest went down to their feet and made a low bow to their only hope in redemption.

"Rise up. You can be rest assured that I cannot remain with my hands tied after seeing Westeros in this state. But first thing's first, we'll have to go see the king of Raven hill."

Their eyes immediately brightened up but suddenly became confused. After staring at each other, the returned their gazes to Lucius.

"Why, if I may ask." Asked Luna

"Just as Sir Criston said. This domain is beyond saving. If we're going to rebuild Westeros, we'll have to do it within a new domain. Also, we'll have to spread the news of my return to ease our negotiations with the king."

They were all amazed beyond measure of the wisdom in which he spoke with. They all nodded in agreement and kept on their serious faces.

While embarking on their journey, they stopped in a forest to spend the night. And while Lucius and the rest rested, Amber and Ginny gathered dry twigs and fallen branches, creating a makeshift circle for their fire. The crackling flames danced, casting an eerie glow on the towering trees around them

Suddenly, the stillness of the night shattered as an earth-shaking roar echoed through the forest. Before any of them realized, a fiery dragon flew past directly above their heads. Their faces suddenly gleaned with astonishment.

But instead, Amber's face rather displayed excitement.

"A dragon!" She exclaimed but Lucius instantly sealed her mouth with his hand.

When the dragon had gone far, he released her.

"Wow! I have never seen one of those." Said Luna

"They're so majestic and the most ancient of their kind." Said Sir Criston

"I heard dragon scales are very expensive. Who knows how much money I can earn." Amber rejoiced which caused the rest to stare right at her. But suddenly the dragon lunged backwards and begun pouring out flames from its mouth within the forest.

"Stand firm!" said Lucius to give them a bit of strength.

Lucius was also highly mesmerized by the sight of the dragon. Who would have thought that a day would come when he would get to see an actual dragon with his eyes? However, the situation in which he had encountered the dragon did not make him the least happy.

He looked at their faces and recognized a very great deal of anticipation from him. The fire caused by the dragon begun to spread very quickly across the forest.

"My Lord, we'll have to slay the dragon." Said sir Criston

Lucius ears panicked and he begun to wail mentally.

"That way spreading news of your return would be very much easier." He added.

"I know, but where do I start?" He asked himself.

Lucius had no choice but to accept his fate. So, he jumped forward and begun to engage it in a fierce battle, each swing of his sword met with the thunderous roars of the beast.

"The flames are spreading very quickly; I have to do something."

Suddenly around that moment, Lucius' eyes fell unto his crystal ring which he wore on his finger. A vague idea popped into his mind. He couldn't even explain to himself how this new idea of his was supposed to work, however his body still moved on it's own and he stretched out the arm on which he wore the ring.

To his surprise, all flames near him were suddenly being absorbed into the ring until there was no more flames near them.

Lucius stared surprisingly at his ring. He wore a treasure on his finger all along without his own knowledge. From what he had seen, his ring had the ability to absorb mana. And from its rarity, it probably had no bounds and worked on all mana infused abilities.

Amidst the chaos, Luna the group's mage, clutched her staff with fear etched across her face. While Lucius and Criston were engaged in combat, Lucius called out,

"Luna, we need your magic! Cast an ice spell on the beast!"

Luna hesitated; her confidence shaken by the enormity of the dragon before her. Lucius absorbing the fiery breath, screamed,

"Now, Luna! We won't survive without your magic!"

With a deep breath, Luna summoned her courage, uttering incantations under her breath. The air around her shimmered as she conjured an icy aura, but her trembling hands betrayed her fear. The icy spell, though released, emerged weak and feeble, barely scratching the dragon's scaly hide.

"Luna, your magic won't work unless you subdue your fear. You'll be surprised what you can do if you just have faith in yourself."

Feeling the weight of her comrades' trust, Luna steeled herself. With newfound determination, she focused her energy and chanted a more potent incantation. The air crackled with frost as a powerful surge of ice shot towards the dragon. This time, the spell hit with force, encasing the dragon's limbs in a layer of frost.

Lucian seized the opportunity, and slashed through the dragon's hard scales with a mighty blow. The dragon's lifeless body collapsed to the ground and the victorious party rejoiced.

Amber was too excited with their victory. Now that the dragon was dead, she could also sell the dragon's scales and become filthy rich, this was heaven for her
