Veronica's POV
Daniel caught his awful father talking trash about me and couldn't resist lifting his leg to give him a kick.
Nobody gets to mess with his mom! Not even his biological dad gets a free pass!
He wasn't about to let that slide!
I quickly grabbed Daniel and pulled him back, motioning for him to go play inside for a while. Then I walked over and said, "I've been swamped all day, that's on me, but I'm not changing!"
Leonardo: "..."
I could sense the icy fury rolling off this man. His anger toward me had probably maxed out by now.
"Hungry? Want some of my cooking? Just wait here!"
I'd heard from Bonita that this guy had skipped meals today. If I didn't cook for him, he flat-out refused to eat.
"Who wants your cooking?"
Leonardo still had some residual anger brewing in his chest.
He stubbornly claimed he wasn't hungry, but his stomach gave him away with a loud "grumble."
