Chapter 12 - Blitzkrieg (DxD AU Vali SI) CH6

Blitzkrieg (DxD AU Vali SI) CH6

...

-Vali Lucifer-

The castle was quiet as we teleported back into the Throne Room. That was, except for the sounds of clapping by one Rizveim Lucifer.

Clap! Clap! Clap!

"What a marvelous show Vali-kun! I couldn't have done it better myself!" He grinned at me crazily as my eyes widened.

I sighed and nodded tiredly. "Of course you were watching."

He grinned at me, and suddenly I had a bad feeling. "As was all of the Underworld!"

My mind blanked out. "What?" I said quietly.

He waved dismissively. "You should be proud, you know? You're famous now! Heaven and Church are practically on fire and are panicking like headless chickens after the show of Evil Light!"

"How did it get leaked?" I muttered in shock. This can't be happening. I'm done, all the world is going to be gunning for me now!

Then I realized something and glared at him in rage. And I'm 100% sure that you were the one who leaked it in the first place!

"-Oh I did it! Devil-Net is such a useful thing you know?" He nods proudly, and once again I am stumped by his response.

Finally my composure breaks. "But why!?" I ask desperately. I'm tired and I don't have the energy to deal with his bullshit now.

"Of course I had to share my grandson's glory with the rest of the Underworld!" He grins madly from upon his throne. "What kind of grandfather would I be if I didn't? And it's not like it matters that much, you can't see only your back and silver hair was caught by the surveillance spell that Euclid was running so I could see."

That calmed me down a little, but I was still worried. "But what if Heaven declares war over this?"

He then grins even more at me. "They can't! You know why?" I tilted my head confusedly. Is he going to tell me about Big Gs death?

"Because God is dead!" He laughs maniacally, only lightly shivering at uttering that name, while all of us twitched in pain. "He and the other Satans killed each in the final throes of the Great War!" I was "shocked". My mouth agape as I looked back at both Euclid and Katerea in "shock", both of them nodding already knowing the secret.

Katerea steps up. "That is why we wanted to restart the Great War! While Heaven is weak and not able to remass their forces, the Devil's are stronger than ever! Only if those Fakers hadn't stolen our rightful position!" She utters the word Faker in such hate that even I shiver from the vitriol.

I frowned. But that's foolish. She's forgetting that the whole Abrahamic Faction can't afford another War. The God of the Bible has pissed off so many gods that it's not even funny, and the only reason they haven't attacked is because they believe God is alive! I once again twitch in pain for thinking that name.

But of course, I didn't say anything and just nodded along with her.

Rizveim yawned. "Yeah, yeah! I've heard that a thousand times." He then looks back at me. "And technically all three Factions are still at war. There is never going to be a peace treaty after all. Just too much bad blood between all parties."

If only he knew…

I nodded this time and sighed. Quietly thinking. I would be a fool if I didn't consider the consequences of this.

Despite what Rizveim was trying to tell me, I knew for sure that the Heaven would not just stay quiet after what I had done.

He nods and once again grins. "You were so cool Vali-kun! You even followed my advice of savoring it! The way you killed those Exorcists was so much like a devil!"

I sighed, suddenly feeling even more tired. "If that is all grandfather, I would like to rest."

He pouts. "But don't you want your reward Vali-kun? And I even included the extra gift that I told you about!"

My attention is instantly back and I sharply look at him. "It is here?"

"Indeed! I found it with the rest of Euclid's toys!" He nods, grinning and looking back it seemed like Euclid had agreed to let me have the Sacred Gear Extractor in his possesion.

Sure the Grigori had invented the device (or the ritual I don't know) but it would be foolish to think that the other factions wouldn't quietly acquire one through their multiple sources (bribery, recreation, or straight up theft).

He telekinetically floated down a stereotypically packaged gift box (with ribbons and everything) towards my waiting hands.

As I snatched it out of air, I smiled (shaky at best) for the first time tonight. At least all of that meant something…

I was a hypocrite, the biggest piece of shit on this plane of existence. You could even say that I was worse than everyone in the Old Satan Faction combined because atleast they were truly honest about being evil.

While I masqueraded my actions as one made for a greater purpose… Truly I was a hypocrite.

But I couldn't let myself get lost in self-loathing… I just had to move forward.

"What is it?" Katerea tilted her head.

"Nothing." I replied before anyone else could, signaling to Rizveim to let me have this. I would much rather keep this on the down-low…

Sensing his smirk and silence, I understood that he had decided to follow me for the time being.

The glint of curiosity in her eyes was strong, but eventually she relented. "Well if you don't want to tell." She shrugged and summoned a Teleportation Circle beneath her. "Thank you for the entertainment but I have some more work to do." And with a flash of light she had disappeared.

I sighed, I wanted to play the "Sacred Gear" card close to the chest and while it was inevitable that people would find out about it eventually, it could still be used as a trump-card at least once.

I bow down. "Thank you for your generosity Grandfather."

He smiles at me, grinning. "You are welcome my grandson." But as I move to exit, his words stop me. "If you need some advice with it you're welcome to ask 'kay?"

I nodded back at him in confusion. Why would I need to ask him advice about it?

That thought ringing in my ears even as I arrived back in my room and locked the doors. By the time I sat on the wooden study table, with the red-ribbones white box in front of me, after taking a shower my curiosity couldn't wait any longer.

Suffice it to say, the gift-wrapping didn't survive.

And what I opened up to was… two leather-bound folders with hundreds of filled pages. Or parchments cause these things were old... practically ancient.

While one of the two folders looked new and the pages were of paper, the other one was considerably older with its pages being made of yellowing parchment.

I looked at both of them in slight confusion, because I had honestly expected some type of sciency-gizmo rather than two thick books.

But I was sure of one thing, Rizveim wouldn't cheat me on this after going so far as manipulating me into officially "joining" his side.

So I curiously opened the newer folder first and reading the first few pages of it, confirmed my suspicions.

"Oh!" My eyesbrows climbed in realisation. "It's not a device! It's a ritual!"

Supposedly, the ritual was just "recently" developed by the Grigori, and it was already leaked to the black market if Euclid having this was any indication.

It was a pretty simple ritual, and just like the anime it would kill the Sacred Gear's old user. There was something about the ritual becoming more complex and unpredictable the higher the grade of the Sacred Gear but it was apparently solved by providing more energy as a fuel.

An interesting thing about the process was that once the Sacred Gear is extracted, it would become an physical artifact that syncs with the soul, rather than a soul artifact that resides in the soul.

Believe me they were different.

And there was warning that doing this with Sacred Gear's with a Soul inside them was super risky.

Like suicide level of risky.

While the last part was disappointing, it didn't change my goals much, I was not going after Boosted Gear after all.

Issei was my backup plan. The so-called Janitor that would make sure that the worls's denizens don't fuck it up.

I didn't have the patience nor the energy to babysit the world, Issei could have his harem and be the "Oppai Dragon Hero". I just wanted to live in peace after killing Rizveim (hopefully before he finds out about 666).

But that catched my eye and worried me to no end was the so-called "Compatibility".

What did this mean? Basically if you were not compatible with the Sacred Gear, you would always be physically or mentally injured in some way when using it (Sephroth Graal's infamous madness is not included in this).

I went through that file with fine-toothed comb after that tidbit. Making sure to remember all the warnings and safety procedures. Spending hours just understanding the intricacies of the ritual. While it took a lot of preparations it would absolutely be worth it.

Finally after who knows how many hours later, I leaned back on my chair and massaged my forehead.

Yawn.

I streched. "I should go to sleep now, I had a long day." As I moved to go back to my bed, the old folder caught my eye.

My eyes widened and I slapped my forehead in annoyance. "Oh right! I forgot about this!"

I shook my head. "It's probably not anything important. Rizveim is probably just trolling me or something." I sat back down to atleast know what it was all about and the answer?

Blew me away.

My jaw hit the floor as any tiredness I get was instantly swept away by excitement and shock.

Sitting casually on my table was the experience and improvement note about one of the most powerful, yet the most situational power that this setting offered.

Sacred Gear Canceller.

Needless to say, I didn't sleep a wink the whole night.
