Just A Nobody (Pokemon SI)

Chapter 1: Just A Nobody

-Unknown POV-

Despite what countless light novels or anime might tell you, getting reincarnated hurts like a bitch.

Like seriously, can you imagine slowly getting squeezed out of a tube while not even being able to breathe?

Yeah. It's not pleasant.

And not to mention that my bitch of a mother took one look at me and yoinked me into an orphanage! Like who does that?

I would've understood if she were poor or something and didn't have the money to raise me but I could clearly hear her talk on her flip-phone looking thingy to some friend of hers that she "just could NOT stop her journey for some brat that she accidentally got pregnant with".

Now, if I was a normal child this would've been the moment I would become traumatized and start on the path of Edge-Lord.

Fortunately, for everyone, I was a 19 year old adult stuck in the body of an infant.

Yeah, that's not better but atleast I was apathetic enough to not care about her either.

So it was like this, that I, the newly named Justin, was reborn.

In the world of Pokemon.

-Justin POV-

-Celestic Town-

-January, Year 344 AD-

Pokemon are awesome.

That was the thought that went through my mind whenever I saw these magical creatures of wonder for the past 4 years.

It was just… so cool! The adults were kind of used to them but me? Nope, whenever I saw one I would just enter a fanboy mode.

Though every kid my age was the same so I wasn't as much of an outlier as I thought at first.

It had even gotten me in trouble with out-of-town trainers a couple of times.

Thankfully they and their Pokemon were very understanding and took my enthusiasm as a normal thing for a child.

Honestly, the first time I saw a group of Bidoof dumbly scurry outside the orphanage I was just so shocked that I did a spit-take.

With Breast Milk.

… Yeah. Granny Brown was NOT happy to be on the receiving end of my spit-take.

But let's leave the tales of my embarrassing infanthood aside.

From that one moment, I just could NOT stop thinking about this.

It was like a dream come true!

I was even more excited when I learned that I was in Sinnoh of all places! Gen 4 games were my absolute favorite in my childhood, so to now be reborn here of all places seemed like fate!

Even the pesky Starly who kept stealing my food, couldn't stop me from becoming the Champion!

Now I just need to get a Pokemon and begin my adventure when I'm ten!

Yeah… A slight problem with that.

Unless you were sponsored by the Regional Professor (who was a much younger Professor Rowan with a much more glorious mustache) you could not start your Journey until you were 15 AND you had passed a Trainer School.

Yeah. You can guess I wasn't very happy when I heard that.

It… It just wasn't fair. There was no exam to be chosen by the Regional Professor. Hell! It wasn't even mandatory for them to sponsor trainers!

It was like, if they wanted to, they could do it. But it wasn't necessary.

That meant, the only way to get sponsored by them was to get in their good graces and hope that you made a good impression.

Which I couldn't do. Because you know, I was hundreds of kilometers away from Sandgem Town where Professor Rowan lived. And I couldn't even travel! Why? Because it was illegal to travel roads without a Pokemon!

And the only other way to do that requires me to buy a fucking super expensive bus ticket that I couldn't afford even if I sold myself!

It was fucking system that encouraged favouritism!? Who the fuck came up with this!? Come in front of me you bastard! I'll tear you apart!?

… Sigh

Sorry for my rant… It's a sore topic for me.

At least there was a silver lining, that the top 3 graduates of the Celestic Trainer Academy would get awarded with a starter Pokemon.

Not to the level of rarity and potential of a Pokemon of what Prof. Rowan provided but any Pokemon could become super strong with hard work and time.

Usually Celestic Town would provide either a Swablu, a Togepi, or a Houndour.

And I know that these Pokemon can become strong. Especially Altaria, as it could Mega Evolve.

Yeah, I remembered that gimmick. It was basically the Super Saiyan mode for a Pokemon. And only select Pokemon could do it.

So with that, I had a new goal to accomplish.

Celestic Academy began their entrance exams every January and had the opening ceremony in March. I just needed to get good grades in normal school (yeah we still had those) and I was hopefully set for life.

Celestic Town was the hometown of the Champion Cynthia in the games. It was also the place that was connected to arguably the 4 True Gods of the Pokemon World.

Palkia, Dialga, Giratina.

And Arceus.

Shivers.

… Yeah for some reason whenever I even think about them I get a feeling like someone's watching me.

It's weird. But I could also feel "them" turn their attention away after a few moments.

Or "they" let me feel "them".

It's weird.

Ignoring that can of worms! What I was saying was that Celestic Town had a very important historically important place in regards to Sinnoh (and maybe the world).

In the games, they showed this by telling the player that this was a place for seniors. A place where old trainers retired.

That was a half-truth apparently because here while old people did come to retire, there were obviously people of other ages too.

But primarily? Yeah this was a town of old farts.

Thwack!

"Little brat did you just think something rude about me again!?" Said the enraged voice of Granny Brown. She was a hunched over old woman of about 95. She had faded white hair, bright green eyes and wrinkles throughout her body. She looked as if she would keel over any second.

That's a fucking deception!

Because this old lady just isn't anybody! She used to be a Nurse Joy once! And despite what she looks like I had seen her arm wrestle a Machoke and win!

This old lady was an absolute menace! But was our menace! While she showed a rough exterior she loved each and every orphan that resides in her house. She had three old Blisseys that took care of all of us and despite all the trouble that we made she still found time to read us bedtime stories!

She was a saint!

But make her angry and she becomes a demon!

"N-no Granny! I was just thinking about how beautiful you are this morning! H-haha!" I nervously smiled up at her trying to hide how afraid I was.

One thing that Granny absolutely cannot handle is rudeness. In her words "she had seen enough rude Trainers in her lifetime and wasn't going to raise such barbarians under her roof!".

And somehow she has such a sharp intuition that she could feel if someone is being ungentlemanly near her.

I swear she has some kind of Telepathy or something!

Granny looks at me with narrowed eyes. Her bright green eyes look at me from top to down and nod. "Okay brat! Go and clean up! The Kricketune can wait." I nod so quickly that I'm sure that I looked like a bobble head, and quickly run away-

"-And don't run in the halls brat!" She yells over.

-And I calmly walk towards the baths.

I didn't tell you what I was doing right? Well, because I was bored I decided to take up the hobby of drawing "wild" Pokemon. When the Pokemon in question found out about this they decided to pose for me.

Because honestly after the first few trial and errors, I really shined at this. The drawings were really lifelike. If I wasn't after doing a career in Pokemon Training then I could really be an Artist.

Currently, I have done the drawings of Starly, Staravia, Bidoof, Bibarel, Kricketot, Kricketune, a Geodude, a Roselia, the three Blisseys, and a trainer's Luxray.

I didn't have much in the form of variety because not many Trainers come to Celestic Town as there really isn't that much in the form of tourist attraction. So the pool of Pokemon that I could draw was small.

Because Celestic Town, while bigger than what the games showed, was still just a small town. Barely a blip on the map of Sinnoh.

And there wasn't an Internet, or a Poke-net, so the only way to connect to the outside world was through the TV or radio (or the one variation of cell phone that worked only regionally, had very bad coverage issues, and was super-i have to sell my left kidney-expensive).

Sure they were still stuck with flip-phones with barely 2G coverage for the past 20 years but it wasn't really their fault.

According to what I read in the library. Any attempt to venture into space had ended in failure. This has happened so many times, that the Leagues worldwide have started to stop trying entirely.

Thank Rayquaza for that... Or maybe it was Deoxys?

So that means no satellites. That means that connectivity with the rest of the world was almost zero.

The TV, phones and radios worked because of a series of signal towers spread throughout the region.

The only way to know what is going on in the rest of the world is to trust what the League is telling you. Because only they have the equipment capable of contacting other regions.

You know, that's a little bit scary to think about.

But… eh! It doesn't really concern me right now.

I had bigger things to concern myself with right now. Why?

Because today a couple were coming to adopt a child. And Arceus (shivers) protect me from Granny if I look untidy in front of them, even if I don't want to get adopted.

"Sigh… let's get this show on the road." I said as I adjusted my collar.

1756 Words.

Well, this is a story i had worked on for a while before i lost interest in it. Not because it was bad but because i just got tired of writing this after my pokemon fever ran down. Still there are atleast +9k words written for this. Be warned though that when writing this i had watch a little too much edits of Gojo Satoru and the president guy from wind breaker...
