Chapter 34 - CHAPTER 34:fresh air

While Lily Martins was still lost in thought—

Jacob Cross had already left the room.

His footsteps faded down the corridor, calm and steady, without the slightest pause.

From his perspective, as long as she was safe and breathing, the stains on the mattress were not worth mentioning.

But Lily didn't know that.

She stood alone in the room, staring blankly at the closed door for a long moment.

Then—

She exhaled sharply.

"…That was close."

She pressed a hand to her chest, her heart still pounding violently.

I really don't want to make him angry, she thought seriously.

When Jacob Cross gets angry, he's terrifying.

Her brows knitted together.

When he saw the bloodstains on the mattress, he must've been furious inside.

If I hadn't handled it carefully, I might've gotten beaten to death.

She shuddered.

(I've barely survived until now. I don't want to risk my life again.)

At that moment—

A mechanical voice echoed inside her mind.

[Pfft—]
