Scene: Honnouji Academy - Classroom 2-K (A Few Days Later)
(Ryuko is staring intensely at the side of Y/N's head. Y/N is trying to ignore her, staring blankly at the blackboard.)
Ryuko: Stare
Y/N: (Internal) If I don't make eye contact, maybe she'll stop. Stay chill. Be the background character.
Y/N: (Whisper) "Please stop. You're burning a hole in my skull."
Ryuko: (Whisper) "Not until you tell me how you got to class so fast the other day. You fell off a cliff, Y/N."
Y/N: (Whisper) "There... There was another cable car. Very convenient schedule."
Ryuko: (Whisper) "Bullshit!"
Y/N: (Whisper) "Aliens. It was aliens. They have great public transit."
Ryuko: (Whisper) "Tell me, damn it!"
(Ryuko had been pestering him for days. The bell rings. Students filter out. The trio walks out together.)
Ryuko: "Tell me how you did it!!!"
Y/N: "I told you. I 'ran'. Isn't that enough?"
Ryuko: "You expect me to believe you 'ran' up a vertical cliff face in less than 30 seconds!?"
Y/N: "...Yes?"
Ryuko: "You're wearing a Kamui too, aren't you!?"
(Ryuko suddenly jumps on Y/N, grabbing his collar and trying to rip his shirt open.)
Y/N: "Whoa! Hey! Personal space! Sexual harassment!"
Mako: "I'm so happy you guys are getting along!"
Y/N: "Mako, help me! She's trying to undress me in the hallway! This is not 'getting along'!"
(Ryuko realizes he's just wearing a normal white undershirt. She relents and gets off.)
Ryuko: "Hmmmm... You're not wearing a Kamui."
Y/N: "There is no way in hell I would be caught dead wearing one of those. Too much exposure. Drafty."
Ryuko: "Hey! Senketsu is a great piece of clothing!"
Y/N: "With those kind of transformations? No thanks. I prefer cargo pants. Pockets are useful."
Ryuko: "I didn't choose that! Mako, back me up here—"
(Ryuko turns around. Mako is gone.)
Ryuko: "Mako? Mako!! Y/N, did you see where—"
(Ryuko turns back. Y/N is currently being carried away by a group of students in white lab coats.)
Y/N: (Deadpan) "I really hate this place. -_-"
Ryuko: "Hey! Get back here!"
Scene: Biology Lab
(Ryuko transforms and chases the Biology Club members to their lab. She confronts the leader.)
Ryuko: "Taking hostages is pretty low!"
Mako: (Tied up) "Ryuko, you're so cool!"
Y/N: (Also tied up, looking bored) "Why am I always the damsel in distress? This is becoming a pattern."
Biology Club President: "They are not hostages! They are the Biology Club's precious Guinea Pigs!"
(Ryuko lunges. She slices the President's uniform instantly, sending the club members flying out into the courtyard.)
Scene: Courtyard
Ryuko: "I guess that wraps it up."
Mako: "Thanks, Ryuko!"
Y/N: "Yes, thank you for the rescue. Again. I was about to dissect them if you hadn't shown up."
Ryuko: "Don't think you've escaped my questions!"
Y/N: "Poo. -_-"
(Ryuko collapses her blade. Suddenly, Mako comes running at Y/N and catapults herself onto him. Y/N doesn't flinch; he catches her effortlessly.)
Y/N: "Good morning, Mako."
Mako: "Morning Y/N!"
Y/N: "Where's Ryuko going?"
Mako: "Oh! She went ahead to face down that mohawk guy from yesterday!"
Y/N: "The needle guy? Right. So, what's up with us?"
Mako: "It's our turn to clean the school!"
Y/N: "What?"
Mako: "Yeah! In order to keep the school clean, random No-Star students are selected to clean up the place!"
Y/N: "Sigh. Of course. And it's me and you, huh?"
Mako: "Yup! Let's go!"
(Mako hands Y/N a mop. Y/N stares at it like it's an alien artifact. He glances at Ryuko near the entrance.)
Y/N: "Well, let's get this over with. Cleaning duty. The excitement never ends."
Mako: "Awww. I wanted to watch Ryuko fight."
Y/N: "I have a feeling you're gonna get your wish. Trouble follows her like a bad smell."
Scene: Inside the School Hallway
(They walk up the stairs. As they enter a hallway, Y/N stops abruptly. He grabs Mako's collar and yanks her back.)
Y/N: "Mako, wait."
Mako: "Huh? What is it, Y/N?"
(Y/N narrows his eyes. He picks up an eraser from a nearby ledge and tosses it down the hall.)
FWIP FWIP FWIP BOOM!
(A dozen needles fire from the walls, and a net drops from the ceiling.)
Mako: "Oh my gosh! What are those!?"
Y/N: "Booby traps. Amateur work, but effective against idiots. Looks like the whole hall is rigged."
Mako: "Wow!"
Y/N: "...We have to clean them up, don't we?"
Mako: "Yep!"
Y/N: "Give me a break."
(Montage: Y/N moves through the hallway with practiced precision. He disarms tripwires and catches needles mid-air with a bored expression, tossing them into a bucket. Mako mops the floor behind him.)
BOOM. CRASH. (Sounds of battle from outside)
Mako: "Wow! Sounds like Ryuko is giving it her all!"
Y/N: "Which means we'll have more rubble to clean up later. Come on."
(They turn a corner and find a pile of unconscious students—the ones who tried to fight Tsumugu.)
Y/N: "Seriously!?"
Mako: "Welp, they won't clean themselves up!"
Y/N: "Yeah, yeah, I know. -_-"
Scene: Boys Restroom Entrance
(They hear voices. Inside, Tsumugu Kinagase has Ryuko pinned down with his needle gun.)
Tsumugu: "At this range, you'll die. Take off your uniform."
Ryuko: (Glaring) "..."
Tsumugu: "Then you leave me no choice—"
(Y/N steps into the doorway. He sees Tsumugu about to shoot.)
Y/N: (Internal) Needle gun. Anti-Life Fiber weaponry. This guy is serious.
Y/N: "Oi. You mind keeping it down? We're trying to clean out here."
(Tsumugu spins around and fires a volley of needles at Y/N without hesitation.)
THWIP-THWIP-THWIP.
(The needles hit Y/N. He doesn't dodge. He stands there, looking down at his shirt, now pinned to his skin.)
Y/N: (Looking at the needles) "..."
Y/N: "Wow. Rude."
Tsumugu: "What the— You shouldn't be able to move! Those hit your pressure points!"
Y/N: (Feigning weakness) "Oh. Right. Ow. The pain. Oh my god, I am paralyzed. Help."
(Y/N leans against the doorframe, looking incredibly bored despite his words.)
Y/N: "Why would you fire this many needles? I'm not afraid of shots, but this is excessive. Please take them out. It's ruining the fabric."
Tsumugu: (Stepping back) "Who are you?"
Y/N: "Just the janitor for the day. Seriously, take these out. It itches."
(Tsumugu is confused. Before he can act, Mako rushes in with a mop.)
Mako: "This uniform is the only clothing Ryuko has! Taking it is like taking her friend!"
Tsumugu: "Who is this?"
Y/N: "HALLELUJAH."
(The spotlight hits Mako.)
Mako: "Ryuko loves this uniform! Taking the clothes off her back is like taking away a friend!"
Tsumugu: "People and clothing can't be friends. They are parasites!"
(Mako sticks her mop into Tsumugu's back/armor.)
Mako: "Shame on you! You have to take better care of your friends!"
Ryuko: "Thank you, Mako..."
(Y/N pulls the needles out of his chest with a wet crunch, wincing slightly as he feels his heart rate spike. He takes a slow breath to regulate his pump rate.)
Y/N: "You jackass."
Tsumugu: (Aiming at Y/N) "You! Come to try and fight me?"
Y/N: "Fight you? No. I'm here to complain."
(Y/N drags a massive, bulging trash bag into the room. It clanks heavily.)
Y/N: "Do you know HOW many traps you set up!? There were over a dozen in this hallway alone! I had to disarm all of them!"
Tsumugu: "How did you—!?"
Y/N: "And I have to clean up the bodies in the hall! Why is corpse disposal part of my curriculum?! Oh, hey Ryuko."
Ryuko: "Uh... hi Y/N..."
Y/N: "We're leaving. Let's go, Mako. We still have to clean the rest of this section."
Mako: "Got it! Bye Ryuko!"
(Mako rushes off. Y/N starts to follow, then stops and looks at Tsumugu.)
Y/N: "Mako, wait! I haven't cleared that area yet!"
(Y/N chases Mako, leaving Tsumugu bewildered.)
Scene: Later - Outskirts of Honno City
(Aikuro Mikisugi is having a drink with Tsumugu.)
Tsumugu: "That boy that hangs around Matoi. What are your plans for him?"
Aikuro: "Who? Oh, Y/N L/N? Just observation. I doubt he's a threat. He acts like a regular kid who's in over his head."
Tsumugu: "You know damn well that's not true. There is nothing 'regular' about that boy. He took a volley of paralytic needles and complained about the itch. He disarmed my traps like he was taking out the garbage."
Aikuro: "I know what you mean. For now, I'm keeping an eye on him. But my primary focus is still Matoi."
Tsumugu: "Hmph."
(Tsumugu stands up to leave.)
Tsumugu: "One last thing. Be prepared to improvise. I get the feeling he's going to change the game. In a big way."
