The girl sitting next to me had dark blue hair, just like mine, styled in braids with a few strands falling over her face. Her wolf ears were drooping like a puppy a Wolf, just like me. She was asleep, so I couldn't see her eyes yet. She looked to be about my age.

Nearby, some other girls were talking in tired voices. "I hope this semester is better than the first one," one muttered. I didn't know what happened last year, but judging by the faint, crackling heat of the dragon mana swirling around her, it must have been awful.

The girl next to me finally woke up. When she opened her eyes, they were blue the exact same shade as mine. It was strange.

Third Person Perspective

The girl sat up and looked at her seatmate. Instead of being confused, she looked excited. She reached over and poked the girl's arm, her wolf tail starting to thump against the train seat.

"Hii! We have the same eyes and hair! Are we twins? OMG, wanna be friends? My name is Kiori. What is yours?" Kiori talked so fast that the girl couldn't get a word in.

When she finally paused for breath, the girl spoke up. "My name is Yukiri, nice to meet you. Yes, it is strange how we look alike. And yes, I would like to be friends, Kiori."

Yukiri's Perspective

Kiori's smile is so bright it's almost blinding. Her wolf ears are twitching; they look so soft I almost want to touch them. Anyway ahem, she seems genuinely nice, though a bit overwhelming. For a second, looking at her, she reminds me of... Akiko. The resemblance in their energy is haunting. Before I could dwell on that thought, Kiori started blabbering again. This time, it was about the dorms?.

Third Person Perspective

"Wanna be roomies?" Kiori asked, leaning in, her wolf tail wagging with unstoppable energy. "My roommate moved out last semester, so there's a room left. The dorm units are actually pretty big. We'd each have our own personal rooms, plus a common room where we can hang out, a kitchen, and a bathroom. So, what do you say? Wanna be roommates? I—"

Yukiri managed to cut in. "Sure, we can be roommates. But isn't the school in a weird repair mode right now? I heard they are re-making the uniforms and separating the dorms."

Kiori's smile widened as she prepared to dive into the details. "Yeah! I heard they're changing uniforms based on our group. Freshmans are 13, Sophomores are 14 and 15, Juniors are 16 and 17, and Seniors are 18. They put us in that order because the learning is different for every level. Since the Freshmen just started, the program is easier with fewer classes. Sophomores and Juniors are basically the same but with different difficulty levels, and the Seniors are focused on graduating and choosing majors."

"Wait, wait, wait," Yukiri cut in again, trying to slow the conversation down. "It's really like that? That's... a lot. How old are you, anyway?"

Kiori pouted, her cheeks puffing out because her flow had been interrupted, her wolf ears flattening slightly. "I'm 13! And let me finish talking!"

She took a quick breath and jumped right back into her explanation. "So, the dorms are totally separated now. Freshmans are in the right wing of the Sun Dorm building, and Sophomores are in the left wing. In the Moon Dorm building, Seniors are on the left wing and Juniors are on the right."

Kiori finally took a real breath, looking proud of herself for explaining the whole system. The school seemed to have a very strict order: Sun for the younger students, Moon for the older ones, each split down the middle by age. Kiori, now calmer, asked, "So how old are you? Same age, right?"

Yukiri's Perspective

Oh no! I completely forgot about that. Oh shi—wait, I'm turning 12 in... 5 days? Then I will be 13. I will just lie; a year can't be that big a change.

I told Kiori I was 13. Her wolf tail started wagging again; she's so energetic, it's kind of cute.

Kiori looked like she was going to jump out of the train with joy, taking my hand. "I knew you were the same age! I was going to cry if you weren't in the same age group."

Then we finally stopped at the station.

We took a school bus to the school. It was massive three dorm buildings, two school buildings, and a garden. I couldn't see the full thing, but I could see it from the map. I heard from a few students that it even has a college, Starfall. Suddenly, someone hugged my neck from behind. It shocked me a bit, but it was just Kiori. She started rapidly talking again.

"Yukii! Let's go. I know where the buildings are, so don't worry! I can carry our luggage too!"

Before I could reply, she flared a bit of her mana to help her pull our luggage together. She looked more like a playful cat than a wolf like that, her wolf tail swishing in happy loops as she tugged our bags along.

I quickly took my luggage from her. She pouted, her wolf tail drooping. "Yuki, let me carry! You—" I cut in, patting her head. I couldn't handle it; she's so cute. She nuzzled against my hand, her wolf ears twitching under my touch. I knew itthey were soft, just like I had imagined.

Before I could say anything, someone bumped into me, and several heavy boxes almost fell right onto me. I reacted instantly, using mana to catch and lift the boxes in mid-air just in time. I almost showed my actual mana but disguised it time a faint lavender glow, I like that color.

The girl looked at me apologetically, grinning sheepishly. Her hair was red and so long... and she had black eyes. A dragon too? I could feel her dense dragon mana humming from the boxes. That's weird; I never met a red dragon before. Her thick dragon tail gave a nervous flick as she stabilized herself.
