Yukiko was a true daughter of the Selaris bloodline, inheriting the family's signature moon silver hair. She was born prematurely on December 12th, before her White Wolf mana had fully formed. Her physical transformation continued after birth, and she stayed in the hospital until her features including her small wolf ears and tail stabilized. It wasn't until January 20th that she finally possessed normal wolf traits, her celebrated birthday. Her twin, Akiko, didn't share the complication and was born later, in March.
Yukiko had icy blue eyes, while Akiko inherited their father's warm green eyes. Their appearance drew so much attention that it became tradition for Selaris girls to dye their hair to match their father's color. Despite being twins, they were opposites. Akiko was naive and spunky, her tail wagging rapidly when excited. Yukiko was calm and shy, her ears often twitching as she observed the world.
The Final Happy Memory At six years old, the twins' laughter filled the estate. As Misaki adjusted her kimono, her long wolf tail swished elegantly behind her. Her husband Asher, a Demon, appeared with curiosity in his eyes.
"Love? Where are you going?" he asked. Misaki turned with a playful wink. "Oh, I forgot to tell you this morning... but you've been quite the kisser today." Asher's face turned a deep shade of red.
The twins bounded down the stairs. Akiko's ears perked up at her father's red face. "Ma... I think Dad's sick?" she giggled. Yukiko remained silent, using a small flicker of mana to tug playfully at her mother's sleeve. "Wait, Mama, don't leave! Can we come too?" Akiko pleaded, her tail drooping. "Not this time, my little stars," Misaki laughed.
The Departure Yukiko wrapped her small arms around Asher's leg, her ears flattening against her head. "Dad... don't leave!" Asher scooped her up. "Blueberry head," he smiled. "I have work, but I'll bring some cheesecake later, okay?" Yukiko whispered, "Okay," her tail giving a weak wag.
Ray, one of Asher's younger Demon brothers, was walking past with headphones on. Asher handed Yukiko to him. "Look after the twins," Asher commanded. "Hey... come on, you too," he muttered to Akiko.
Asher opened the car door. Misaki giggled at his flushed face. "Awe, look at you being a gentleman." "Stop flirting, lovebirds, and go already!" Ray shouted, using his mana to slam the heavy front door shut behind them.
Eventually, the twins wandered into the garden. To cheer her sister up, Yukiko giggled, "Let's play tag!" She tapped Akiko's shoulder and bolted.
Yukiko was much faster, her tail streaming behind her as she ran into the road. Akiko chased after her. Then... a screech. A thud. Silence. Akiko's small body lay still on the asphalt.
The Snap Misaki returned home at that moment. Seeing Akiko, her barrier necklace shattered. Her blonde dye melted away, and her wolf ears stood rigid as her eyes turned crimson.
Screaming in anguish, Misaki clutched Akiko. In a fit of madness, she turned on the driver. Her mana lashed out like invisible claws, crushing the car's metal. Then, her gaze fell on Yukiko. Misaki's power struck Yukiko with blinding force, throwing her body back like a doll. Through the haze, Yukiko heard her mother's broken voice: "Yukiko... it's because of you. Why her... and not you?"
Yukiko woke up a month later. Ray walked in, his expression cold. "You've been in a coma. I'll let Father know you're awake," he said.
Stumbling through the house, Yukiko saw the housekeeper dusting. The girl looked at Yukiko and fled in fear. The realization of Akiko's death suddenly hit Yukiko, and she sobbed, her tail curled tightly around her leg as she walked. She went to Asher's workroom. The moment she entered, his blazing Demon mana hit her. Without remorse, Asher used his mana to seize Yukiko, lifting her off the ground and throwing her roughly onto a couch. "Watch this," he growled, tossing her a tablet.
