Once on the balcony, tension began to build as the weight of the conversation they were about to have settled in. The friendly atmosphere from before shifted almost instantly.
Annabelle felt her throat run dry.
She had brought him to settle and come to an agreement but could find a single word to say now that they were here.
Cassian understood her dilemma and spoke first,
"Your proposal was quite…. Intriguing, Miss Marudas, but that was all there was to it." He said.
As soon as the words left his lips, Annabelle's hands trembled, albeit subtle. She whipped her head, gazed up, and met his eyes. They gave nothing away.
She bit her lip, panic building up.
"But it piqued your interest, did it not?"she uttered.
"Indeed, it did, but then I soon lost interest. There was nothing to gain from it," he replied, his gaze up at the night sky, Annabelle frowned.
