I stood by the heavy metal door, gripping the steel tray so hard my knuckles burned. If it had been plastic, it would have snapped under the force. If it had been glass, it would have shattered.
My throat bobbed as rage coiled violently in my stomach while I listened to what was happening inside.
Dante and Oleander.
He was forcing her again.
Her broken cry. Her soft pleas. Her tears. I could hear them even if they weren't real. My mind replayed them over and over, her voice echoing in my head, begging me to help her, to save her, cursing me for being weak.
I took a step forward, jaw clenched so tightly it ached, eyes blazing as the guards immediately moved to block my path.
"The Alpha doesn't want to be disturbed," the taller guard said.
