Celina and I were still locked in that forbidden position, and I ignored every warning alarm blaring in my head.
Even Varg's voice.
I waited for her to come to her senses. To realize I was never interested in her and that I wasn't going to return the hug she was desperately forcing on me.
But nothing happened. In fact, it felt like I might be waiting forever.
My ears twitched and my gaze snapped to the door the instant it creaked open. I gripped Celina's shoulders and shoved her away with a swiftness that stunned her. Me even.
"Dante?" I grunted, eyes narrowed as I scanned the room.
Nothing.
Only darkness greeted me. Not even the outline of a shadow. I activated my enhanced vision and inhaled sharply, searching for his scent.
Of course, he wasn't there.
There was no way Dante could slip past my senses. His Alpha aura alone would have overwhelmed the room if he had entered. It must have been a breeze. Nothing more.
