OLEANDER
Hex's jaw dropped the moment the words left my mouth.
His face paled, and he blinked twice, harder than I had ever seen him blink before.
God.
I stared at the floor, wishing it would split open and swallow me whole just to stop him from looking at me like that. The longer his gaze lingered, the deeper my embarrassment burned.
"Um…" I began, trying to push through the thick awkwardness that had suddenly wrapped around us. But nothing coherent came out.
"Do you even know what you're saying?" he whispered, jaw tight. "Or are you trying to tempt me because you think I'm not as controlled as Dante?"
I frowned at him. Why would he drag Dante into this and ruin the moment?
