Chapter 1 - part 1

Let's start the story of Nabora, a hopeless lover who wants to experience love before her teenage years end...

So... hi. I'm Nabora.

The author already introduced me, but let me say it again — I'm just your average teenage girl with a PhD in embarrassing myself in front of fine guys.

Yeah, life's fun like that.

Last night, I had a dream about a boy in a checkered shirt. Not gonna lie, he looked criminally good — even in casual clothes. I don't know who he was, but I wish to meet that guy or someone like him.

"Nabora! Breakfast is ready!" Mom called from downstairs.

"Coming!" I yelled back. (Ugh, and there goes my dream sequence.)

"How's your preparation for the test? It's next week, right?"

"Yeah. I think I've studied enough to finally score higher than Hae-wool."

(You probably don't know him — he's my academic rival and number one annoyance.)

"Oh please," Mom sighed, "spare that poor boy sometimes. You always bully him."

"Mom! You always take his side. I'm your daughter!"

"That's because he's a good boy — not like you, always teasing others."

"I'm getting late! Bye!"

See what I mean? Even my mom likes that jerk more than me.

And that's exactly why I can't stand him.

"Where's your necktie?" the school guard asked.

"I... lost it," I lied. (It was totally on my bed. Oops.)

"And you, Hae-wool? Why are you late?"

"I missed the bus," he said, all calm like it was nothing.

"Both of you — clean the school ground. Maybe next time you'll learn."

Great. My day just got better.

"Hey, Nabora," Hae-wool said with a smirk, "you got punished too. Come help instead of staring at your notebook."

"What kind of boy asks a girl to do work like this?"

"I'm not your boyfriend," he shot back, "so don't expect any princess treatment."

(Ugh. See? This is what I deal with every day.)

I started sweeping, blasting my favorite songs to ignore him — when suddenly, a branch snapped above me.

Before I could move, Hae-wool rushed forward, pulling me into his arms.

My heart froze. His grip was warm, steady... too close.

He didn't know what this feeling was — but it definitely wasn't ordinary.

And me? I couldn't even breathe, let alone speak.

[That's all for today. Bye y'all!]
